Newbie Here
I’m new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself in this section. I live in a rural area in NW Georgia where everyone drives pickup trucks. My wife and I bought seven beautiful acres of land full of hardwoods in 2020 and built what will hopefully be our last home in 2021. I’m guilty of the pickup truck syndrome because I own a 2020 Chevrolet 2500HD but have realized that I bought it to fit in and I don’t really need it. Before that purchase I only drove sports sedans and sold a 2014 Mercedes E350 AMG Cabriolet to buy the 2500.
My “toy” is a 2021 Corvette. The C8 is a great car but not practical for daily driving for me because I have always liked the room in my sports sedans. The E350 was a very nice car and was our road trip car. It was my second German made car. The first was an 2006 Audi A6 with a V8 in it and I loved the performance of that AWD system. BUT I couldn’t keep it out of the shop. My Audi Service Advisor and I were on a first name basis which is never a good thing. When I bought the E350 I was also looking at BMW 550s. The E350 was a CPO so I bought it. Now I’m looking for my next sports sedan and the M5 has caught my attention. I’m buying used and trying to compare different sports sedans. That’s why this section caught my attention. I would appreciate member’s thoughts on the M5 vs other sports sedans. Thanks in advance! |

M5 is the king for performance sedans. I came from C63 AMG to M5.
You are coming from an E350 so 550i will be a leaps and bounds better in performance and technology. New 550i have performance of older F10 M5 models. It really comes down to budget. M5 is faster and more agile than new 550. F90 M5 will also be faster from dig, roll and 1/4 than your new C8. Happy car hunting! |

You will probably sell the Corvette if you buy the M5. The truck you might want to keep if you live on 7 acres and like cutting down trees.

I won’t sell the Corvette. The C8 is an American engineering winner. It’s attracted many former European exotics owners to buy their first GM product or first Corvette. I’ve owned one of the last five generations over the last 30 years and this is by far my favorite. |

For .05 seconds in the 1/4 mile I won’t sell the C8 especially when its 0-60 times are identical. In fact, from what I’m reading here about M5 maintenance I’m looking at other cars now.

I say keep the truck so you can pull the toys in a trailer to various track events
Anyways, I was able to find a used 19 M5c with 20k on the clock for a very good deal -- 100% worth it. It is a great all-around (and all-season, if you want) machine. |
