Search for video of Chris Harris driving the Audi Etron vs M5 CS.
Obviously it’s a CS but for your purposes I would think will still give you a good idea about the differences between the Audi and m5. A base or comp m5 vs CS shouldn’t change this that much. CS owners will disagree but I had zero issue keeping up with a CS in my 19 M5C Edit, never mind here ya go |

Really comes down to what you want I suppose. Crazy straight line speed - Model S Plaid Best looking exterior/interior - eTron GT RS (subjective, of course) Best driving EV - Taycan "Turbo" All the EVs are a little too big and heavy for me still, but if that doesn't bother you, and you aren't addicted to the noise of the M5, then one of those would probably fit the bill. |

Since this is the last Hoorah of the ICE M5's, I really wish BMW gave the CS a better exhaust. It should have a track mode exhaust mode that is just............ridiculous. It is definitely worthy of one.
IMO

Decided against it. It's probably as good as the M5, but it's not better, so I resent the big $$ to change.
There's nowhere obvious to go after an M5. It's such a good car there's not many 5-seat vehicles that are actually a step up. |

I figured I'd do this first, then if I'm fortunate enough to have the same job/still be alive in a couple more years, finally go 911. After that, there should be some worthy EVs. |
