Sold the 5, waiting on the 3
Hi All,
Thanks for all the input and advice this past Saturday regarding my purchase of my new 330i (black on terra with aluminum, SP, PP, CP, rear spoiler, rear shade, and of course a 6 speed). This post is really just an update on my efforts to sell my 2000 528i. I posted it on autotrade Sunday evening, got two calls Monday afternoon, sold it today! WOW! I highly recommend their site if you need to move a car. I'll be in touch. Anticipated delivery on the new 3 is 6 to 7 weeks. Anyone have experience with having a car built? If so, how long did you wait? |

Congrats!
Personally, when I used AutoTrader, I got several emails apparently of Nigerian origin (i.e. I checked the IP's in the full message header and then did a WHOIS search) saying that they were dealers overseas. I knew right away they were frauds, but annoying nevertheless to keep receiving. Never got one legit person contacting me through it. Used the local papers and things worked out much better! |

Nice clean private seller 5's are easy to sell and hard to find. When we bought a '98 540i my wife logged her phone calls and it took us calling on over 100!!!! 540's and 528's to find one that met the criteria of miles, colors, condition, sport pkg, not a curbstoner dealer, proof of maintenance, area of town close enough to check it out, etc.
We knew the car we'd buy the minute we saw it. The sad fact is, the majority of used cars out there are not good specimens. The 528's seemed to be worse than the 540's. We speculated that the 540i was the car an enthusiast would prefer and so they got treated better, while the 528's would often be just another family car to many. The Husband would be driving a Porsche or something and the 528 was the wife's car that he knew he could tolerate driving. |

Maybe I didn't sell the 5... I talked to the guy tonight and now he's worried about repair costs on a BMW. Whats up with that? Who would every worry about repair costs on a used BMW ;- )

My e90 was on a ship when my CA found it, but we had our e91 built to order. It took almost exactly 2 months to the day before we took delivery, but that was what I expected. It's not so bad and worth it to get exactly what you want.
