Down here in GA they want $1200-$1400 for a pre-cut front end kit. Bumpers hood fenders etc. A full front clip wrap is closer to $2000.

I got my first rock chip the other day. I was sad for a couple seconds. But then I remembered I still had my $2000

I am having a full front xpel installed right now (full hood, full fenders, front bumper and mirror covers) for $1250.

I had my roof, and the B-pillars done today, with xpel ultimate, and 20% tint all around, which is legal for me in NC, with a medical exemption.

I got quoted $1100 for Suntek full frontal wrap which wasn't bad but ended up going partial hood instead.

Not bad at all for Xpel!

Awesome! I did 30/20 ceramics on the car and it works pretty well. So glad to see that the front door film doesn't get scratched like it did in my E90.

Has anyone had larger pieces put on the front of the rear quarter panel flares in F80? Also how bad do the rocker panels get?

Going full frontal with Xpel, but thinking small strip on the front of the roof, and larger pieces on the fronts of the quarter panel flares than the stock pieces.

I don't notice a color change and you can see it, but it isn't super noticeable. Hopefully these pics help. One dirty and one clean.

Good thing about Xpel is that as long as it's covered, it's really great and strong. Bad thing is some portions are not fully covered with the precut kit and those portion will collect chips soon. (ex. Rear portion of rocker panel film is smaller and not cover fully. Bottom portion of front bumper near mesh grills has some absence of coverage that also collects chips quickly)

Is it still worth money? Yes.

Clear Bra or Not?

As most of you know, modding is addicting and I have had this disease since I was 16!

I just leased a 2017 F80 ZCP and already lowered her, purchased CF parts, powder coated the wheels, tinted the windows, and more. I just can't drive a stock car - lease or not.

So most of these parts can be sold in 3 years at the end of the lease but now I am faced with a bigger ticket purchase dilemma.....Xpel. Have many of you had a clear bra installed to avoid pits and chips on your lease? Or am I just throwing money away since I plan to turn her back in at the end of the lease? Does the dealer consider the chips as normal wear and tear or do they deduct this from my deposit?

Thanks for your feedback!

putting Xpel on a lease seems like a complete waste of money to me.

Why would you bother investing to protect a car that doesn't belong to you? Your next mod should be a personalized licence plate that says "dontcare"

I'm also considering this? I'd like see how much people cover, where they break the coverage, etc. As to the prior post, we still want the car to look good while we have the lease? My prior M4 picked up some smaller chips, but BMW accepted it. However, I didn't like looking at it.

OP, any ballpark idea on price? I haven't priced it.

I feel the same way you do! I don't want to look at a bunch of chips. For the full hood, bumper and mirrors the cost is about $900.

I did the complete front end to include the outside mirrors and head lights. I purchased my vehicle and did not lease. If you do go with paint protection film do the entire hood and not half. My wife's car we did the front half of the hood back in 2012 when we purchased it new. The vehicle now has over 60k and it has held up good. Over time dirt will work its way into the seams.

Since you are leasing the vehicle that is a hard call since the cost for my vehicle (2015 F80) back in July of 2014 was $1,800.

Doesn't make sense for a lease, no chance of BMW saying, "Thank you for protecting the front of our car with PPF, we''d like to reward you with $1000"

If you buy, I say it's a must.

I did full front, CF roof and mirrors. Three factors: (a) I don't want to see the chips, (b) you can be charged for excessive chips when turning in a leased car and the last car I didn't have PPF on was full of chips and (c) I could conceivably buy out the car (or trade it in / sell it) at the end of the lease, so I treat it like I own it for the most part.

I went with SunTek and have had Xpel and 3M on other cars. I like SunTek appearance best. Xpel has the best warranty. Lots of info in detailing / cosmetic thread.

I don't think it is any more of a waste of money than other cosmetic mods that require install, uninstall and resale.

Nope. It's a lease. You might as well set that cash on fire.
