'21 Comp build/timing thread
with all the covid stuff possibly screwing up the timing of things i figured it would be a good idea to get some dates for how things progress these days.
with that in mind, I figured I would post the build progress of my order. I was given a production number about 2 weeks ago and told I had a week 28 build date (July 6-12). I have been checking the bmwusa site every few days and on 06-26 it changed status to: PRODUCTION BEGINS (150) The dealer told me if the "normal" timing was in place I should see the car here in Indianapolis some time mid-August. I will post the timing as status dates change all the way thru to the dealer. ill take a bunch of pictures once i get it too if people are interested. as far as build I got all options except CCB with DG + Full black |

well, as an update, as of 2 days ago, the BMW Genius line says my car should be finished this Monday, July 13. This is the end of Week 28/beginning of Week 29, so if they make that window, everything is on schedule.
right now the website is still showing "Production begins", so if I do not see any changes by July 15, I will call them back to see what they can tell me. I cant imagine that it would take more than a few days to build the car once the body shows up on the line. |

i considered the CCBs, but the added initial expense + way more to replace rotors and pads down the line steered me away from them. i dont track my cars, so not worried about fade, and i can spend quite a bit of time cleaning wheels before i exceed those costs! hehe
hopefully it on a boat in a week |

Yea, i hear you ... the CCB are probably overkill and i went back and forth a few times. I was considering pull them but cars went into production a lot faster than expected so that made the decision for me.
Yes hopefully on the boat in a week, we're taking delivery on the east coast as well so probably same boat! |

With today's technology one would think it is not that hard to do. Your car has a paper and electronic trail

I'm on the fence of either building a 2021 M5 Comp or a 2021 M8GC Comp this fall, so I'm curious to see what your initial response is about the 2021 M5
