Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I was inquiring about a Velos Stage 1 over email. The vendor was talking about if the car has been in recently for service that they would locked the ECU and no tune could be applied? I thought Velos stage 1 was a piggyback. anyways that's crazy. He said that to me. |

I had the velos tune. It is not a piggy, but rather an ECU tune. It really woke the car up, particularly mid-range. Sadly, with the fuel ventilation recall, the dealer loaded new software on the car, and the car was put back to stock (I can feel the difference). Had the tune for less than a year, and didn't get to run a Dragy either to see test results. Velos is telling me ECU is now locked and they can't reload the tune.

Evolve also states that if the newer software is installed, they can't remote tune the car. The thing that sucks about all of this is that they will eventually put that software on your car so a tune would be short lived less someone finds a way around it. I used Racechip, considering JB4....Racechip has worked well for me, 10k miles and counting.
