Brake sounds and squeaks

Anyone else having issues with the breaks? No matter the conditions no matter the time the breaks sound horrible. It doesn't matter if i am going fast or slow it sounds like i am driving a junker. On the nicer weather days? Forget about it, it sounds insanely bad.

Not uncommon to have brake noise on this M5 platform as well as the previous ones; do a search on this forum or the F10 M5 forum for bedding techniques that may help. In my experience it's been hit or miss (I've had noise on 3 of the 5 M5's I've owned).

On my last 3 M5's (including my current F90 M5C) I've replaced the OEM pads with aftermarket ones primarily due to dust and noise.

Curious - is the brake squeal only on steels? Don't seem to hear about them in the F90 with CCB even though they were reported in earlier models.

If it breaks when braking it is a junker and you should immediately return it to the dealer

CCBs on my f10 made a lot of noise. Sounded like race brakes. My f90 CCBs are pretty quiet. Talk to a dealer, maybe?

CCBs are quiet on the F90. Standard steels are notorious for noise. Look into aftermarket pads. I changed to aftermarket pads on my F10 with steels and the noise was gone.

I am having the same problem also. The dealer say it is normal. It squeak so loud, it's embarrassing. My F80 M3 did not have any brake squeaking problem at all.

The steel brakes on both this M5 and my previous F10 have been silent. Ceramics were notorious for noise on most cars, but maybe not so much on this one.

Maybe somebody smarter than me, could set-up a poll comparing the experiences of those on the forum? There must be some contributing factor that is alluding us. Is it style of driving, break-in procedure, environmental, or something else?

Same noise here, I've been trying to find aftermarket pads with very little luck. Akebono's rep claims the F90 pads are too thick for their machines to manufacture. ACG Automotive seems to have something, but difficult to get details on it (or if they actually solve the noise issues).

Call ACG 858-633-1017. I've had them now for a couple of weeks with no dust or noise.

I'm with you...it happens so randomly. Most of the time they're quiet, but out of nowhere they'll squeak which pisses me off

Omg. Brake. Are you talking steel or CCB pads? The CCBs are gods own brakes. They are great.

My f10 was like that, but f90 is practically silent. I wonder why ours would be so different. After washing, the make so crazy noises as I back out of my driveway, it’s short but steep. They can barely hold the car on the hill if I drive right after washing and the makes the crazy growning noise.

At this point I think we can safely say brake squeal is more a feature than an issue with these cars. My F10 and now my F90 squeal like a school bus. But I expected this going into the purchase so it doesn't bother me as much. It is what it is and I'm not even going to waste the dealer's or my time to try and fix it.

I still don't understand why BMW can't make or source a pad that doesn't squeal. I've had several AMG's and some P-cars that have been whisper quiet and still had excellent brakes.

In fairness the Porsches have the issue too - Porsche even took time to make a video about the topic.
