2021 M5 competition suspension

Anyone spent enough time in the seat of an Pre-LCI M5 competition and a new one to be able to comment on the differences with the new suspension upgrade? I thought pre-LCI was a firmer than I wanted. Curious what the new feel is like.

Thx.

1200+ miles on a 21 M5C and the comfort mode is fine in my estimation.

I got to test drive a pre-LCI and an LCI within one week of each other. I know this might not be accurate in comparison to long-term use, however the LCI was much softer. For reference, I drive an E63s and the pre-LCI comps were much stiffer then that. The new LCI comps are for sure much more softer than the pre-LCI and the E63s I have.

I had a S63 at one point and that's been the softest super sedan I've drivin. The new LCI M5 comp's comfort is between the comfort of the E63s (pre-facelift) and the S63.

Hope this helps

i wouldn't even call it an "update"...all they did was rob the M8 suspension and put it in the M5C...i drove the M8C when i was shopping for an M5 and it felt similar to my base M5 i ended up going with. I think the Pre-LCI suspension is perfect TBH. This isn't a track car. I don't need to be track stiff for street roads IMO. But in sport+ mode i have no doubts it would handle a track perfectly in my amateur hands.

sad to know that, because i always felt my standard f90 is still stiffer in comfort settings than my older lowered f10

It is the other way around! The LCI is softer, people been complaining about the stiff suspension before the LCI.

I think that what they're saying is that all the LCI is that it has the suspension from the M8GC Comp.

That is what I just said....the Comp is softer because they put the M8 suspension in it.

I was also adding that my base M5 is perfect for comfort as well as stiffness while the pre-LCI M5C is way too stiff for city driving.

He's referring to both. The LCI version of the M5 Competition. That's the only M5 from the 2021 model year going forward that will receive the suspension from the M8 Competition. It's softer than the one from pre-LCi (2019 and 2020 Comp)

Hope that helps clear up any confusion

How much softer are we talking here? And is it just lower spring rates and lighter damping, or more involved like bushings, geometry, etc?

I have a 2021 comp on order and am a little disappointed by this tbh.

Apparently the dampers and maybe (?) the springs from the M8 were lifted and shifted over to the ‘21 M5 comp. I guess it was to address complaints some folks had regarding the level of compliance of the prior MY Comps. I hope it doesn’t make the ‘21 wallow. I am willing to accept more ride comfort loss for handling prowess.

+1

Have an M8 Comp and the non-comp M5 pre LCI felt quite similar in "softness" but yet still firm over rough roads/bumps.

How's the "platform"? In plainer English, I mean the slow-bump speed behavior... Does it wallow or does it give you a feeling of a stabilizing counter-force (without harshness) when cornering?

Thanks!

Is it possible to retrofit these onto the the Pre LCI 2019 M5 Comp?
