I'm right there with you. Subs get here today and I can't wait to swap them out to see if they meet the hype.

Let us know what you think when you get them installed. Are you doing it yourself?

Will do. Since it's just the subs for now, yes. I watched the video yesterday and it seems fairly straight forward.

It is! I think you're going to be really surprised! Resist the temptation to turn your radio on after doing just one side. Also, slide the seats on the tracks far enough for the seats to stay lifted on their own, and have something to prop them up so their wiring harnesses do not become unplugged.

P.S. They let you change your username! 👍

I will resist the urge. I'm looking forward to the upgrade because I spend a bit of time in the car since it's my daily.

The name change FINALLY happened last week since it took 90 days. I may or may not have been checking almost daily.

Agreed with you on this. Mine is also my DD, and I spend a LOT of time in it. It will make the M5 experience that much more enjoyable!

It must have been like checking MyGarage!

OMG! I think I will be buying the stage 1. Just got the subs in and I can feel it in my feet! I should have had a song to compare right before and after the install, but either way, I'm very pleased with the results. Money well spent!

WOOHOOOOO!

It sounds great now, but everything will mesh together by hour 20, even though the insert says 12. Please give us an update again at that point!

Glad you're happy with the result! How was the install?

It wasn't too bad. The only issues I had was the rear speaker screw up against the trim on both sides. It was a little tight using a ratchet with a torx drive. Other than that, pretty straight forward and only took a little less than an hour.

Sorry if this was covered already but is this a worthwhile upgrade for those of us with the BW system?

BavSound upgrade kits are only compatible with HK and HiFi systems.

When it comes time, I might see if Bavsound will sell individual speakers like Bimmertech as I’m really only interested in the front stage. I typically fade to front anyway on factory systems. I’ve done some decent active systems in past vehicles (nothing on the level of subterFUSE on here or other experts), but definitely not putting the money and effort into it now. Sounds like it’s a no brainer though to at the very least get the subs for a nice ROI.

Got the subs installed this morning and there is a very noticeable improvement in bass. Install was pretty easy. The worst part was getting the damn plastic clips off the rails. Now contemplating getting the rest of the speakers for the full upgrade.

Just got a '23 that was a great spec/price, but no B&W like my '19, and holy shit it's such a huge drop in quality (for me personally). I'm going to grab the subs today and start there. It's a lease that I plan to get out of before lease end, so don't want to do the full kit. Thanks for all the feedback here.

RIL - sounds like you had a bad run of luck with your subs? Seems like an outlier compared to the many good reviews, but who knows. Worth a shot for the $ and the warranty, right?

First off, congratulations on the new car!

Grabbing the subs is definitely the place to start! I do think that I had one offs (albeit a couple of them). Nonetheless, I continue to sing BavSounds praises to anyone on this forum who will listen. Despite the issues I had, they were in fact replaced each time, and accompanied by exceptional customer service. That's a good chunk of why I am still a big believer. I am on my third set in my new car (well, first set in my LCI, the other sets were in my previous pre-LCI) with about 3.5K on it over the course of a few months. They have broken in extremely well, and sound better than my previous sets. For $600 and 1 hour of your time, it's the best ROI you can get for an audio upgrade in our cars without a doubt. And if for some reason you don't like it, they'll take everything back within a 100 days.

I'd say pull the trigger for sure!

Full Disclosure: There are a couple other options on the market for plug and play that I may explore at some point. Bimmertech will absolutely never, ever be one of them, since they don't accept returns. If these cause issues, I'll probably try Rockford Fosgate's plug and play system. BavSound is made by Audiotec Fischer, who makes quality products and who I am a fan of. But again, these have proved to be absolutely excellent. I'm not fixing what isn't broken.

Mine are definitely starting to break in and sound better. Very happy so far with both kits… I hear individual instruments and feel the kick drum again
