That's what you expect from a Chrysler engine. No surprise there.

I believe only the Diesel engine is Chrysler. The gas motors are Ferrari.

Yep. They kept saying that it's built by Ferrari, but I think the block is from chrysler. Apparently California T is going to have a version of this engine. I think California will have different internals and flat crank.

I will say this, it sounded good for a Turbo V6.

I really wanted to like this car but there's too much Chrysler in this car. They'll have a TTV8 option soon, but it still doesn't take the Chrysler away from the car.

I don't think they are. They were "tuned" by Ferrari which is a big difference. It's like when Lotus used to tune GM engines in Europe.

If this is a Ferrari engine, then all I can say is that Ferrari must have a really shit power train team.

The California T is a flat plane crank V8 Turbo built by Ferrari.

They build the Quattroporte engine and it is de-tuned intentionally as well.

I stand corrected. You're right, they'll using a version of the quattroporte v8.

The Quattroporte design is certainly a fully bottom up Ferrari design that is detuned as you say. Also a pretty poor engine.

In fact I don't think saying a Maserati has a Ferrari engine means anything:
- Ferrari has always been known for chassis development not for their engines
- In F1 people have been saying Mercedes has better engines for about 15 years now
- with the latest turbo engines Mercedes is totally thrashing Ferrari in F1
- If I think of the truly great sportscar engines I think McLaren, AMG, Porsche and VW Groups various entities.
-from what I can tell the engine in your TTS crushes the one in the 458 on any objective measure

so bottom line - Ferrari engine - just bragging right but no substance behind it.

I saw one of these for the first time on my way home from work today. I did not think it was visually appealing in the least.
