Help with Color - Marina Bay Blue vs Sanpper Rocks Blue
I am getting close to ordering a 2020 M5 Competition, but I am having a hard time deciding on exterior color.
I really want a blue car this time around. I have owned so many white cars over the years, and also a number of dark gray. My favorite blue color is BMW Estoril Blue, but I don't want to go to the extra time or expense of ordering an Individual color. I feel like Snapper Rocks looks closer to Estoril than Marina Bay, although I do not have an option of seeing Marina Bay or Snapper Rocks in person unless I drive at least 4 hours to Atlanta, or maybe somewhere in Florida. Has anyone else been through this decision and maybe even been lucky enough to see these colors in person before (or after) deciding, and care to share their thoughts? Thanks in advance! |

As an alternative, which is fairly unique as most M5’s are MBB, is the Bluestone color. It is a grayish blue tone and under certain lighting conditions it varies in tone.

I've seen them both multiple times and to my eyes MBB is a much better color. Snapper is very flashy and loud where Estoril never came off like that. So if you want attention Snapper is the better bet.

Very interesting. From the pictures I have seen, Snapper Rocks never seemed to "pop" quite like Estoril Blue. To be fair, I think the lighting in most pics of Snapper Rocks must have been cloudy or dark. The color sometimes looks washed-out in pics. It might be one of those colors where the naked eye makes it look completely different than pictures? |

Man. If you think Bluestone is nice, you better not see Donnington Grey in person!! Hahahahaha.
Actually, MBB is quite spectacular. Snapper Rocks, tho, if you just want to really stand out. |

So glad I chose Bluestone, very rare around here, I usually see Black, White or Donnington

I have MBB but debated this too. If you’re not planning on getting CCBs know that your calipers are going to be almost MBB in color; will look weird with Snapper. SRB is an extremely vivid color, it does look awesome on the M5 but it is LOUD and.. teal. I really liked it in person but couldn’t pick something that wild. It’s not the most masculine shade, I think the take rate is low, and it might affect resale. MBB is a gorgeous color and I have gotten tons of compliments. MBB/Tartufo is perfect - No regrets. Good luck bud.

MBB is underrated. In person it's even more beautiful, deep, and vivid. I don't think SR is fitting to the M5 whatsoever

I test drove a non comp snapper and looked ok. I imagine it would look even better in comp edition with the black contrast. However, MBB is a stronger colour for me. That said I would be happy with either on a comp.

Last year (August of 2018) I had my choice of several colors at the dealership and when everything was said and done I went with Snapper Rocks Blue. Color is very subjective as I was coming from a Mineral white M3 (F80).

My old 545i SMG was Titanium Gray. Singapore looks similar, although darker. Great color, but I want to do something different this time around. The more I look at Bluestone, the more it grows on me. What I like about the lighter colors is that they show off the details of the car better. i.e. the side grills and other lines of the car. |

Take the drive to see the cars, or hop on a quick flight. You're ordering the car, dont compromise on color...its really the most important option in my mind.
You're gonna dig it regardless, but make the the trip... |
