Congrats on the car man! Will be interesting to see how your experience develops as you put some miles and mods into your car. Keep us posted.
Hopefully In the next few months I'll be able to start a similar thread. |

I aksed a question but nevermind. It's just a financial risk not everybody is ready to take. People are even "scared" to get the CCBs because if something happens they would not have the money to replace them - and yet are taking the risk with the engine. Strange times we live in...

I may be wrong, but I think the JB4 is hard for dealers to detect if it has been removed. My understanding is that it intercepts the data being sent to the ECU and tells the ECU it's making less boost than it is. So if the ECU wants 15psi and JB4 wants 20psi, it will report < 15 until 20 is reached. Same with fuel, etc. So the logs of the ECU still show that it was running normally. I could be wrong about this, and it's not the right place to start that debate. I'm sure it's not 100% that they wont be able to deny warranty because of it, but I think it'd be less likely than an ECU flash. I know, a lot of people will say this is wrong, you should just pay to play and deal with the consequences yourself if the engine blows. However, when a service advisor will tell you your warranty is gone because of a mod without proving it was at fault, screw them. At least in the US that's the law. They are supposed to prove it caused the failure. This happened to me in the past though and the dealership basically told me to pound sand, the only way to push them to prove anything was a lawsuit that would have cost more than the repair.

Here are a few photos. I need to get better ones when I have time. We also got an M340i a few weeks ago.

Usually, the modification forums are the busiest. It's the opposite here its kind of dead in there. I think since the platform is new guys are waiting to see how these tunes work out. I ordered a Racechip to hold me over unitl Bootmod3 is released. I'll be happy with a 700HP car on 93 gas. I've tuned over 20 cars and not one issue from the tune or dealership. It's these guys that are racing to be #1 on dragy that might blow something up. Enjoy and have fun with your chase.

bootmod3 is a full ECU flash and JB4 is piggyback. My car has 2k miles on it so I'm still learning about the F90. I''ve learned alot on the Whatsapp group, get yourself added. Those guys are hardcore and a lot of fun. Don't do anything till about 3500 miles so that gives you plenty of time to research your options.

It's another thing if you decide to buy this car - then you should have at about 10% of the cars price on the side. Just my opinion.

Yes. The rears are 10.5" which allows proper fitment of 295s, I went with Michelin PS4Ss @295/30/20 rear and 285/30/20 front. It made the difference in traction and improves the look of the car stance-wise. It's worth noting, though, that the reduced tire-wall emphasizes the wheel:arch on cars with stock suspension.

Personally, I like the JB4 approach because it's 1) so configurable at will and 2) removable. That said, I would expect ECU tunes to be able to extract more than the JB4 can but, in my experience, they're ll so conservative, they end up being less. I can't speak for BootMod since I've never had a car with that tune but it seems to be popular... presumably for a reason. |

OP, congrats on the new ride.
Mods the way you want to mods. It is a strange days these days. I know that none of us worry about warranty when we decided to mod our cars. Anyway, feel free to PM me or call me to dig my brain. I have done quite a few M5 with simple bolt-on. But have some ideas with how far you can do with it if being broke is not an issue.
