So the GT63S has never piqued my interest since Ive only really seen the car in pics and on a couple showroom floors and the excess pricing is just a waste to me. I did see once recently out and about -- its a much better looker on the street. Much like the Panamera 2.0 to me (better live than memorex). But Im with you, Audi and not Benz for now.

Yes, Trap Speed is way low for ETA. It certainly shows ferocious traction.

Congrats on the new car—you'll love it!
Thats so impressive with no other mods!! Very nice!

Right, the result of braking at the very end. The speedo read 130 when I hit the brake but it's 3 or 4 mph off with the new tires. I expect this to be a 133 or thereabouts run without braking.

Hey Limey, curious on your decision for the JB4? Did you consider Racechip? I know they are pretty similar but curious if you had decided one vs the other for any reasons?

I've been using JBs since my first F10 550i xDrive. They were great then for a simple plug'n'play boost in power. Now, though, when you combine the JB4 + Bluetooth dongle + iPhone app with OBD II and direct control over the wastegate, you've got a device that lets you progressively determine optimal boost for your conditions including boost-per-RPM and boost-reduction per gear as well as being able to play with pump gas + octane booster and properly exploit race gas at the dragstrip--I do all of the above.

That said, on my 2020, the JB's map 1 on this car has already beaten my 2019 on a custom map 6. I believe the reason for that comes down mostly to the transmission--it shifts faster and will quick-shift without launch control which my 2019 wouldn't do.

RaceChip didn't even enter the equation for me but I hear great things about it... just no reason "for me" to switch or fix what ain't broken.

I like the list of all the things you coded on your car, I got to do it on my car too

The person you mention, does remote coding?

Nice Car....Love the list of coded items.

But I hate the new cockpit. Hate as in the way Jim Carey says Hate in the Grinch movie. Now that I have had a chance to see it live (your video) I really hate it. LOL. The non-round gauges and the backwards Tach just are 'meh'. Audi did it better.

And the Voice activation is as DUMB as it is in every car I have seen it in. The delay makes it useless. Don't get me wrong, voice activation is excellent if you can't push a button or turn a dial, but if that were your state of being, you would not be driving a car. A well placed button is better than slow to react voice activation.

I would love to see the coders make a "shift" feature for the row of presets on the radio, so we could have 18 or 27 presents instead of the nine. Using those presets is QUICK but its limited to only 9 buttons. Oh well may be in version 22.23

Thanks... if only the brightness control worked--it's annoying the $hit out of me.

I don't hate it nor do I love it; ambivalent I guess.

Don't knock it until you've driven 2,400 miles back from TX using it. On this one, I'd say you're just plain wrong but time will tell. The delay is annoying--agreed 100%--and it's also unnecessary (compute horsepower is cheap enough) but I assure you it doesn't render it useless.

That is a horrible description of the use cases for voice control. Voice control in a car isn't for the physically impaired, it's to reduce or eliminate driver-distraction. Seriously, reserve your judgement until you've driven with it; TWO THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED miles of using it gives me insights you don't have. I'd say don't knock natural language voice control (albeit far from perfect) until you've tried it.

Right, so we need a button for the following:
1. find me a hand car wash along my route that's in front of me not behind me
2. turn on driver's seat massage to level 2, lumbar only
3. I'm hungry
4. I need the bathroom
5. find me a BMW service center along my route
6. find me Shell gas station along my route
7. navigate to the Hilton Garden Inn in <wherever>
8. check my tire pressures (granted, this is button 4 but I hit a pothole in some roadworks and was still in them navigating through cones so the voice equiv was helpful)

... the customizable activation key word is a cute bonus—I originally started with "duuuuuude" but the giggle value eventually wore off and I renamed her to "Max".

Beautiful. Any exhaust mods planned or are you happy with the stock comp exhaust. Also is JB4 worth blown engine w no warranty or what are your thoughts on this topic? Again very nice job on the car.

I'm happy with the Comp exhaust. It's not as raucous as my AMG but it works for me. It also opens up over time becoming subtly louder month over month.

You all too quickly equate JB4 with blown engine; I don't. I've had them on:

- 2 x F10 550s
- 3 x F10 M5s
- 2 x F06 M6 GCs
- 1 x 2016 X5M
- 2 x F90 M5 Comps
… they all still have their original engine and all performed *much* better. For me, firsthand experience trumps naysayers.

Re:JB4 not equating the two just paranoid after recent thread. Your response is much appreciated. Considering same.

As for exhaust I wish it was a bit more loud n badass. Thinking down pipes but can I get rid of CEL with coding? Thanx.

I have 18,000 miles on my M5, 45,000 on my Q7, had about 104,000 on our prior 08 Sienna and about 12,000 on my current Sienna. All have voice control. I can hit a button much faster than tell the car to adjust the temp for me. I use Siri to reply to text messages, and that works, but the delay is a pain. I use it all the time, don't get me wrong, that function is great, albeit slow, But the tech has some catching up with the functionality. It's too slow. If you are waiting for a voice prompt response then I'll argue that you are being distracted from the road.

Ya, Ya, voice control, I can dial faster with the keypad on the dash (if you move your hand toward the dash the dial wheel changes to a key pad, stumbled on that). If you play with it, those buttons are pretty capable, just are too few.

Great idea, but with car movement doing long press vs short press could be dicey.

The 2018/19 do not have the voice activation without pressing a button on the steering wheel. Short press activates the painfully slow BMW voice and long press brings up Siri. Or you can say Hey Siri. Um, wonder where BMW got the idea "Hey BMW?" Can you have Max talk to Siri? I have Geneva and Alexa arguing about when the laundry is to be finished on my Alexa app. Then Alexa asks my car how much gas is left. Ya it works....but bringing up the BMW connected drive app is faster. LOL.

I love my M5, but not looking forward to the next one unless they fix that dash display. It's a step in the wrong direction. It's all code so they need to listen to the users and offer some customizable settings. Much like version next in Windows, they need the ability to let the driver choose "use Classic display."

And....the new headlights are not from any BMW I have ever seen, bring back the classic double bulb look

Mike

Sadly, Max can't activate Siri. Worse still, the long push no longer functions for Siri unless using CarPlay.

My headlights are the halos—only the LCI has the new ones as far as I know.

On the other stuff, agree to differ it is.

Speaking of CarPlay, you use the screen keypad while car is moving? CarPlay shuts mine down. Seriously annoying nanny when you need to, for example, input a number to reach a specific department at a store. Only work around I have found is to look at your phone while driving. Dumb.

Interesting. I don't use CarPlay by default but I have used it and the head unit touch screen is fully functional.
