Glad to see the New M5 has not lost its yacht feeling. F10 certainly had the spinnaker feel. Its quick but not as fun as the M3.

I can't believe BMW gives a car to Matt knowing he is going to 150 mph on public roads. If things go south, someone will go after BMW. The world is litigious. |

It's interesting to see that people cross shop M5 with GT3s and the likes.
Shows how capable a BMW M sedan is compared to a precisely crafted sports car. M5s have always been "astonishing" cars. I like Clarkson's comments about the M5 in this video:

Seems like most wouldn't take less than a perfect review to not get offended. In reality the M8 is being pulled from all race series it has been in because it isn't competitive. This review wasn't going to change that one way or another.

All I heard was "BMW nails brief" - comfy, well put together, quick, practical and a good DD with a turn of speed.
Did he expect to step to into a track monster? |

I'm fairly certain people don't cross shop those two cars.

"Battle Shippy"? I also own an M2 Comp and yes I can say the 2019 M5 Comp does feel that way sometimes. Truth, I like driving both cars so this is not a bad thing. Two different animals entirely.

I drove the the M5C on the track at the performance center in Spartanburg. I was shocked at how well it handled. I got it up to 100 on a straight that ends in a hairpin turn. The car handled it like it was nothing. I drive an M240i as my daily. I’m used to cars you can toss around. The M5C was amazingly tossable.

I wonder what car does give him "what he wants from a super sedan?" I've had the RS7, S8 Plus, and E63S. The AMG is definitely my favorite, but don't think I'd like the M5 Comp based on this review.

... whereas the M3 now is what the M5 used to be-- both in size and many character aspects (F80 is bigger than an e39, e90 is ~e34 M5 weight). ... and the current M5 is e38 7 series sized, so that's kind of the role it fills now (I say kind of because somehow the back seat is vastly smaller than an e38's). I'd imagine his statement was based on pre F10 M5s. M5's with NA engines, steering feel, rwd, and more tossable proportions.

Seriously, why would anyone watch a review from this guy? Most people on here would do a better job of reviewing cars. He's a badge whore and thinks he knows everything about cars. One of the worst and don't even waste my time.

I cant say I have driven this car so I won't offer my opinion. I can still respect Matt's review and that is just his opinion, a very reasonable one too. I wouldn't be surprised if it is exactly as he described considering where BMW has gone starting with the F gens. Don't think the fact that he drove this after the porsche had anything to do with it either. This guy does this for living whether you agree with the review or not.

I've driven 3, all post break in, one on track. His review seemed pretty spot on accurate to me.
