Do your brakes squeak??

Lately I have been noticing that my standard steel brakes are squeaking like crazy, when I'm coming to a stop.

Thinking to take it to the dealer.

Anybody else has experienced the same thing?

Yes. They Do. It's Normal. High Performance Brakes Squeak.

If you do it right you can make music.

Mine makes high pitched screaching noises, but not all the time; it’s intermittent. It does tend to hurt my hearing sometimes.

My M5 competition squeals like a school bus coming to a stop. Its quite annoying but I am used to it now. My M3 didn't have this problem.

Same thing for me...my m3 didn't have this issue at all

My 2020 hasn't squeaked yet but I'm only 2800 miles in so we'll see but my 2019 exhibited the same embarrassing squeals so many of you have cited in this thread (non CCs in both cases).

Mine does. It gets worse after washing the car. It will go away after some hard braking but it is temporary.

Yes exactly, my m4 did this either.

But it's quite annoying in the M5. Stopping in traffic, people are looking at me like my car is broken

Aftermarket pads can remedy the noise and reduce dust.

unfortunately, yes this is normal. My 911 did the same thing, though nowhere near as bad as this car. It is quite embarrassing pulling up. Anyone have suggestions for aftermarket pads that have remedied this?

Not a peep out of any of my "M" cars, including this one.
Maybe the extremes of temperature affecting them.

Not normal at all, like I said NEVER had any noises from any of my "M" cars thats Normal.

Was an issue on the F10 and still is on my F90. So at this point it's a feature rather than an issue at this point. I expected it when I bought my F90 so I'm not as bothered by it any longer. Still don't understand why they squeal moreso than any AMG or P-car I've owned.

I have aftermarket pads and my steel brakes no longer squeak. Do a search of my threads and you will see where I purchased from.

Take the car up to the legal limit on an empty road and really stand on the brakes. That cured it for me.
I’ve had the same issue on other performance cars and it always works. Must be something to do with the aggressive compound of the pads on iron discs.
If that doesn’t fix it... back to the dealer...

Hi Steve I always Snow foam and Jet wash off the disks/Calipers , never needed to hammer the brakes on.

Mine squeak. I'm sure it's louder outside the vehicle than inside just like the exhaust.

Mine squeak too, didn't at the beginning but after enough laps on the Nordschleife it started to. it doesn't bother me anymore #becauseracecar
