Eventuri- meh

Hi there

I got my 22 Comp fitted with the Eventuri system and Akrapovich exhaust.

I'm not sure what I was expecting but the sound from the Eventuri is underwhelming and if anything, I think I've got more turbo lag than before.

I wasn't expecting a notificeable change in performance but at least sound, which really isn't there.

Is this normal? Can I ask what other owner's experience is of this system?

Is it a full exhaust system or like an axle back?

Sadly I think it's the axle back which was hugely expensive

Eventuri is one of the more balanced sounding exhausts; it's not loud or quiet.

It sounds like you were expecting more sound; you should have gone with the louder intakes (of course, they don't look as nice as the Eventuri)

As far as turbo lag, you either did not install it correctly (unlikely) or it's just in your head

I have the same set up going in my CS Monday of next week. You shouldn't see more turbo lag at all. I personally got the eventuri because of the design and should help prevent heat soak compared to most intakes.

Put the stock intakes back on its not the exhaust that is your problem. Feel free to dm me if you want the car setup properly. There is no one on this planet that knows more about keeping m5 running correctly for longevity than myself.

Can you elaborate on this a bit more ?.Are you saying to put the stock airboxes back in, because the Eventuri is doing more harm than good ?.

Please, let’s all hear the knowledge you have for us. That’s what the forum is for. I’m stoked that the one person on the planet that knows more than anyone, anywhere is on here.

So question if I may, to all that have the Eventuri installed. What is the sound like? Mine sounds like a tiny whistling for a short period, like air out a tyre.

Is that normal?

Lol. If this man has like 190k miles on his m5, then he really is… the most interesting m5 owner in the world.

Nope. If you don't hear any sort of grunt or growl coming from the nose of the car (obviously) and you don't hear a whiffle sound, similar to the WRX STI exhaust sound - but with a V8 growl to it when under acceleration - it's safe to say there is something not installed properly.

At the end of the day, it is an Intake system after all. I guess we expect a lot of noise partly because of how much these intake systems cost. But keep in mind, it is serving it's duties and doing it very well. You just can't see it or really hear it. You'll feel it though!

This what I always tell my customers before they pull the trigger on Eventuri.
It is a good looking intake, spend the money if you like its look and quality.
Don't expect too much from it on the sound and performance.

A lot is difference for each person.
I have customer that said he can't hear anything too, while another customer said he loves it. That's why I said can't expect too much.

I think it's the position of the intakes. Typical intakes are directly sucking air right under the hood where the eventuri are pointing out so I think the hiss sound is further away from the driver, hence why some people don't hear it as much. The advantage of the eventuri would be to help prevent heat soak which can reduce power, especially on a hot day. Personally I didn't buy it just for a hiss, I bought it to help things be more efficient.

Im having this problem instead lol. My freaking valves on the akro exhaust aren't opening so I have to take the car back to the shop. The exhaust even with valves closed sounds great but when I play with the exhaust button it's not getting any louder. When you hit the exhaust button is it opening and closing the valve?

I’d still like to know what the one person on earth that knows more about longevity than anyone else has to say about this. Or anything M5 related. I’m running an MSR front mount with pre filters. I want to know if the car’s gonna break soon. And I don’t have the stock intake to put back on. So now what the fuck am I going to do?

The sarcasm was continued from my 1st post…I guess it wasn’t apparent. For all concerned, I am not freaking out and love the MSR intake.
