Drag wheel setup
I am looking to buy just two rear wheels to use at the track and was wondering if these will fit.
http://weldwheels.com/shop/street-st...71-5x4-75.html i want the widest 17" wheel i can fit and these are available in 17x10 Do you guys think they'll fit an 07 coupe? they have several offsets available. My main goal is to fit the widest tire possible maybe 285 or 295 |

The 51mm offset will fit within rolled fenders fine with a 285 tire. With that offset, though, I'd be concerned about getting close to or rubbing the inside.
If you're interested in launching, you should be more concerned about sidewall rather than tire width. My buddy's 1k rwhp '69 camaro hooks on 275's with a 15x10 wheel. Definitely not an expert on the matter, just offering what limited information I know. Hope this helps! |

I'm all for width...I run 285/30 Ventus on the rear for day to day. That said, if you're going for bite at the strip, the MT E.T. street II 245/40 18 @ ~22 psi will shock you. They have an INSANELY good bite. For that tire, even a 9.5 is too wide. The 265 is too tall, IMO, at 27".
My last trip to the lanes showed me just how easily the 245's could instantly shotgun the change from the ashtray into the far reaches of the back seat. IMO, get an inexpensive pair of 18x8.5 +35, and the 245's...unless you're going to come out of the hole on a 150 shot. Apart from that, I can tell you that 9.5 +45 is about all the room my lci has to the inside...5-8 mm to spare to the outside. It's fine on the ground, but on a jack, I just have a few mm between the tire and the inner fender. 9.5 +40 would be perfect. On a 10, I think you're pushing it, assuming "normal" tire sidewall profile. Time and effort will be required to get something like a 295 PSS under there. |
