How accurate is Dragy?
Hey
Got a dragy last week - did a Launch on a damp road and the times seem a little too good to be true. Anything I need to look out for in the settings etc to make sure its accurate? Cheers Danny

I think 99 octane UK is 93 octane US.
And Racechip? 2.9 sounds about right.

Dragy has been validated against many other performance measurement devices including the professional systems used as drag strips. In testing we conducted at PBIR with 3 different Dragys, it was within 0.04s for the 1/4 mile time and 0.3 - 0.5mph on trap speed. I believe they claim something similar on their web page. |

To be fair she did bite - it was a good launch, pretty impressed with the dragy - so simple to use. BTW, the slope percentage, does that mean I was going down a slight hill?

In terms of slope that measurements seems to sometimes have a mind of its own, at least for me. |

The first one is me messing around launching on a steep downslope. The second is real. |

Looks like I'll do the same, they need a rewards program. 3rd dragy is free. |

I’m on my second Dragy too.
The - 376 feet DA in the top right hand corner is why the numbers are so good. Plus you did a great job launching the M5. When the summer heat sets in, the car will hook even better, but the DA will go up and the power will go down. Great job ! |

I did open it up but more because I was curious and didn't care about breaking it. The battery is glued to the removable base with the magnets. The wiring is doable and maybe finding a replacement battery is as well but it is not designed with the intention of battery replacement. Simpler/lazy/me-being-me are all reasonable comments but I'd rather buy another one.

Not sure who you're asking but I'll answer in case it's me: JB4 and a high-flow air filter, that's it. I tweaked a custom map 6 over time using base 92 octane pump gas and a bit of octane booster. My 1/4 mile is 10.33 on a farm road.

Actually, their times on Dragy look legit to me. The numbers and times all add up. They were also on a prepped track. One of them has turbos and the other had it's interior taken out from what I was told. One of them made a post on here awhile back talking about how he bought a completely dumbed down car with no options and he listed the options and what they weigh. It was around 300 or so pounds less if I remember right. That alone can be a couple tenths. Now, add that to removing seats.

5 hz civilian GPS is not especially accurate.
So a strong signal to 4 or more satellites is essential making location of the device quite important...on the roof would be best. Still it should be fairly accurate and comparable to other gps based loggers. I would have thought any minor inaccuracies would be in the initial movement from 0 mph. So it is....so that helps quite a bit.
Positioning of the unit is therefore the more important aspect. A sub 2.9 sec to 60 is pretty impressive. I think I'll quote that time for my car! Last edited by SenorFunkyPants; 02-13-2020 at 03:58 AM.. |
