Inconsistent Launch Control w/ F90 Comp

Has anyone experienced inconsistent launch control? I can’t get my stock F90 Comp to launch consistently for the life of me. Always bogs and short shifts leaving me with not so great 0-60s w/ my Draggy. I thought it was my vehicle, then I watched this:

https://youtu.be/RpGLqvgwtFM

Seems like they have the same inconsistent launch issues.

Maybe it's a conspiracy!! BMW purposely did this in order to make sure the M8 would have better times. 😆

The same thing happened to me when I did my first LC. It's far too common in order for it to be driver error. Software needs to address this.

I doubt BMW will address this. I wonder if this is something BM3 can address via a tune.

Launch mode is just hit and miss. When it's hit though, hang on!

That's very unfortunate. A car of this caliber should a least be consistent. Hope someone comes out w/ a TCU tune soon.

Mine's consistent but there's certainly a pattern of folks struggling to nail launches. I wish I could identify the delta but I'm at a loss.

i had issues with LC when i first got my car and it came down to tire type, pressure and temp. the tires have to be up to temp for this to work. i see that you are in NJ and I am in PA.... long story short you have to switch to all season tires to use LC in the winter time. I use Michelin AS 3+ 285 all around and they work great. 30-32psi of air pressure and have to drive on them for 5-10 min, aggressive accel from rolling start helps getting them up to temp... i usually do this in 2WD mode.

Good point... thank you! Let's see how it goes in the summer with the OE tires. Not planning on swapping tires anytime soon.

Get a set of all seasons and swap for the winter months. You will get better performance and it will prolong the life of your summers since running them below 40 degrees hardens them up and they never really recover to their full potential and they will see 1/2 the miles.

For posterity, can you list the mods that got you here--this will interest folks a lot I think since times like these are becoming less of a unicorn and more mainstream.

I agree these times are basically the norm, you have some guys faster, some slower. I think when it gets warmer and I get back to a performance tire like the Pilot Sport 4 I will improve on the 0-60 and get into the 2.4X range. Right now in 25-35 degree traction is tough.

BM3 E30 tune and downpipes, only mods.

Catch 22, your 0-60 gets faster but your 60-130's will drop.

I would kill for your DA for some 60-130 runs for a weekend but you can keep that shit the rest of the winter..haha

my 60-130 is never good from a stop because i'm usually spinning at 60. launch basically hooks then spins on 1-2 shift then spins on 2-3 shift again. DA is good but the car doesn't seem to gain anything past a certain point. I did 6.0 60-130 in -1200 DA and did 6.1 in -2500 DA and 6.1 in +400 DA. It's almost like it compensates by targeting load.

I am also having inconsistent times with my launch control. On my 93 tune, best I can get is a 2.9 0-60.

On E40 Utku tune the best I can get is a 2.79. This is also with xHP stage 3 TCU tune and line pressure bump.

I can only get 2.5/2.6 in drag mode when I launch the car.

I always make sure the tires are warm and I launch just a moment aftet launch control is ready. Should I let it build more boost?

That’s interesting! Why did you change the shocks in the first place? Did you have to change only rears? Thanks

Did you change just the shocks or springs too? Any coding required? If you could change part numbers that would be great
