F90 M5 transmission fluid change

Hello all. Wondering if anyone knows type and volume of transmission fluid for this car. Since BMW thinks this fluid never needs changing, it will be up to us as the owners to do so. I'm considering changing it every 50k miles, and while I'm nowhere near that yet, I wanted to get a discussion going so the information is available when the time comes. Anyone have this information?

If nobody knows offhand, any suggestions for how a consumer can get reasonably priced access to the official BMW specs for fluid types, volume, etc? Eventually we're going to need to know the type and volume of transfer case fluid as well, at least for those of us who love the car and want to keep it forever.

Typical auto transmission fluids change intervals around 35,000miles?

I typically change around 25000miles and at 50,000 miles I do a fluid plus oil pan and oil filter for the transmission.

I am considering doing it every 25k if I can find the type and volume of fluid needed. Definitely overkill, but can't hurt.

According to the BMW F90 technical training manual, here is what it says ... so no to transmission oil change but yes to transfer case oil change.

Thanks for the info. Are the fluid types and volumes available in that manual? If so, please share.

Sounds like BMW is convinced that the transmission fluid never needs changing, but many of us don't buy into that. Type and volume should be listed somewhere in the event of fluid leak or repair.

It's unfortunate that you need the ISTA system to change the transfer case fluid. I'm guessing there is not a reasonably affordable consumer option for this level of control?

Sorry but no, it's in a different manual that I don't have access to ...

You can check with the ZF-8 website. And this topic is discussed at length in the F85 forum. If I recall they recommend an oil change on their transmission somewhere around 60-80k miles I believe. 35k is certainly overkill unless you track it.
