Car turns on then immediately shuts off

This has happened twice now and I am a little afraid. It happens during cold start. After about a second of the car being on it dies. Then after I turn it on a second time the car starts and works fine. Went in for service about two weeks ago.

Few posts about this already - most fingers are pointing to a faulty fuel pump.

Discussed on this thread. There are a few threads about this but seems to be a fuel pump issue. Good luck!

Interesting that OP is experiencing it on cold start ... the majority of the fuel pump issues discussed on the threads involve shutoffs after the car has been run for a bit, shut off and then restarted some time after.

I've had this issue intermittently on my 19' M5C but never on cold start.

I always have it happen on cold start. Like every 20 starts. Tries to start then dies. Gonna have to start doing vids at startups cuz dealer can't reproduce, of course. Supposedly a low pressure fuel pump issue. Enough of us now, should be a recall.

I took a video and showed what happened to my dealer. They claim that I probably didn't depress the start button fully. BS from dealership....

Agreed .. mine never happens on cold start. It's really intermittent so I've held off on handing it off to dealer who I trust as far as I can toss them.

I wonder if this issue is related to my low times

We're you having problems with your 0-60 runs in your car? Lower than normal / average car

Do you think this fuel pump issue could affect other performance related aspects of the car.

While I have only had one start followed by complete shut off, I have had many starts where RPMs sputter and fall very low "as-If" the car is going to shut off, but then it catches itself and starts...

I have had very weak 0-60 times for my car both stock and tuned (never really getting close to 3.2) and wondering whether a fuel pump issue could be causing this problem

Is there any at home tests o can perform before hauling this thing to the dealership ?

I had the same thing and then a couple of starts later it shut off. Hopefully it doesn't happen to you.
