Recall: Rear View Camera Software
Has anyone had this recall fixed or even been notified?
Sep 27,2019 Manufacturer Recall Number NA NHTSA Recall Number 19V684 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete Summary REARVIEW CAMERA DISPLAY: The rearview camera display may not fully conform to a Federal requirement. If the brightness is set at/near its lowest setting, and the contrast is set at/near its highest setting then, at the "next backing event", the display may not meet a Federal requirement. Safety Risk At the "next backing event", if a vehicle operator relied on the displayed image, with brightness set at/near its lowest setting, and contrast set at/near its highest setting, then in certain lighting conditions, this could affect the visibility of certain object behind the vehicle.. However, vehicles are equipped with a Park Distance Control (PDC) system which alerts vehicle operators, both audibly and visually, to objects behind a vehicle. Remedy The rearview camera software will be updated to reduce the brightness and contrast adjustment range. I haven’t checked the bmwusa site. But, every now-and-then, I go to the NHTSA site, which only requires your VIN, and perform an inquiry. The issue seems pretty begin and IMO isn’t a pressing issue. So, I’ll bring it up the next time I take it in for service.
It’s been awhile, does BMW still send a letter to inform the owner there’s a recall pending? |

I checked the BMWUSA site yesterday and sure enough the recall item is there. But, how does BMW contact us - that’s assuming they still do?
Also, unrelated, there’s a newer copy (PDF( of the Owner’s manual and other docs that I’ve never seen before. |

I just checked on myBMW and this recall is not listed for my car, 2018 model. I'll just keep the brightness and contrast where they are and forgetaboutit.

I use that camera all time (as well as the front too) and I haven’t had any issues. |

I’ve noticed the rear view camera doesn’t work very well if I keep my eyes closed while looking at it.
This is the most ridiculous recall I have ever seen. |
