Does anyone have any experience with NatGen Premier for auto insurance?

USAA is expensive! Great service, but expensive. I use Farmers...just switched to them as it was time for my policies to renew. Also compared State Farm and others...Farmers gave me the best combined rates for home and auto.

If you purchased the car and plan on keeping it beyond 3 years, GEICO offers “mechanical breakdown insurance” as an add-on for around $100/year. It’s a bumper to bumper warranty with a $250 deductible for a visit to a shop or dealership, regardless of the amount of repairs needed. Absolutely the best price for a full warranty to cover years 4-7, up to 100k miles. The only catch - you have to add it to your coverage before your newly purchased car is 15 months or 15k miles old.

You weren't joking, WOW. Nearly $1400 more per year

Anyone with USAA on here want to chime in? I know they have awesome customer service, and I don't mind paying a little extra for less hassle, but what else would help justify the extra cost?

Seriously...nothing justifies the added cost of that amount. I've had Safeco in the past and there were no issue with home and auto claims with them. Would have stayed with them except their rates in Texas have skyrocketed in the past few years.

I checked with all the big providers and also the smaller ones from an independent insurance agent. Farmers was about $1000 less on a home and auto bundle than everyone else.

Yup, I can confirm that USAA costs about that much, give or take depending on where you live, age, multi-car discount, etc. I’ve had USAA since I was active duty military 20 years ago, and despite realizing how much more expensive they are for auto insurance, just stuck with them over the years because of the excellent customer service and ease of claims from home flood damage and several fender benders from many years ago.

I’ve been accident-free and claims-free for a decade, zip code is downtown Chicago and my yearly premium is $2600 on the M5C. The car that it replaced, an ‘18 RR Velar had a yearly premium of only $1300 per year. By comparison to the older current cars in the garage: $1060 for a ‘17 Q7 3.0T and $1020 for an ‘11 GT3. I remember when my ‘14 RS7 was new the yearly premium was only $1600 for the first year.

So what gives? How does USAA come with a much large number for a similarly powerful and similarly priced german super sedan? Dunno. I’ve thought about calling and asking but I’ve been very busy lately. Perhaps chalk it up to historically higher accident rates of the M5 model (due to past models being high-powered rear-driven cars) so that even the newest “safer” all-wheel drive variant still inherits the M5 badge’s perceived liabilities?

i wish i knew how insurance companies justify their prices, along with their price increases every year. Even though you haven't had any claims etc. Just fascinating to see.

Will be keeping this one a while (cuz whats better?) but so many computers and tech on board, I am hesitant to go beyond 3 years without an aftermarket warranty of some kind. Have you made any actual claims on this Geico warranty you describe and how did that go?

for NJ, geico came in at 917/6 mo
State Farm was 1100/6mo
progressive was 2193/6 mo
all-state was 1800/mo

same info/policy for all...disparity makes no sense.

I have the Lizard (Geico) for years... best prices on my Ferraris, Lambos, Bentleys, etc. They are not available in the drop down menus but you just manually add them and in 24 hours or less you get the quote back.

I wont post my actual premium because its specific to my record, time licensed, location, miles per year, type of usage etc (factors differ based on market and driver).

But here is how you can max out Geico with all the discounts. The umbrella is a non brainer, you get a min of 1mm (I run more) in add on coverage for a small dollar amount per annum and the discount on the auto is actually greater than the policy premium itself. Its free coverage!!!

These are my discounts and if you can get all of these you will see pricing in the low 1000's for a YEAR but again its dependent on many factors:

I have been with USAA for over 20 years and I am 53 years old. When I retired from the Marine Corps in 2004 and transitioned into my second career (Law Enforcement) I was approached by a public safety insurance company (cannot remember the name) on graduation day from the academy. Once they found out I had my insurance with USAA they quickly stated they could not match their rates.

This is no longer true, over the years USAA rates have increased. So much that I am look elsewhere and on the USAA forum others have moved onto other insurance companies.

I am located in SOCAL (San Diego County).
USAA (6 month premium): $812.96
Amerprise (CostCo) (6 month premium): $533.87
Amica (6 month premium): $956.01

USAA discount ( I have 4 vehicles and my home insured)
2018 BMW M5 4D 4X4

Annual Mileage Discount
$206.72
Multi-car Discount
$183.12
New Vehicle Discount
$76.49
Passive Restraint Discount
$1.31
Good Driver Discount
$203.03
Multi-policy Discount
$106.81
Persistency Discount
$95.08
Premier Operator Discount
$169.65

I use the M5 as a pleasure vehicle since I have a take home vehicle from my work and I have the annual mileage for the M5 set at 5,000 miles a year. So this may play a part in the insurance rates. Wawanesa rates are lower then USAA when I did a quote back in August of 2018 when I purchased the M5 but they were higher for my wife's car. I have resubmitted a online quote but I need to call them because of the M5.

I'm with USAA and at 1350/6mo in DC. But DC premiums are high, and rightfully so. Roads here are bad and drivers have to be some of the most aggressive compared to lots of other places.

I love USAA and have had 5 star service for the few claims I've ever had to make (all not at fault). I don't mind paying higher premiums for such a great organization.

$1400 CDN here Marc, with $1k deductible. 25 years clean driving record and (likely more importantly) Maritimes and not a big city.

Just got my quote with USAA and ran one with Geico for fun cuz my premium doubled by adding the M5. I currently have an old Honda and a 2014 X5 50i and adding the M5 literally doubled me to $1800/6mon. That's with $0 comprehensive and $1000 collision on the M. Geico was about the same but a little less.

This is precisely why i have Geico for my M5 and Chubb for all my other vehicles! One basically wastes this coverage during the time the factory warranty is still in effect but it is such a small $sum and gives one the least expensive bumper to bumper extended warranty for years 4 to 7!
