Struggling Between SG and Ti Silver. . .
I have two silver cars now - an 04 TL and an 05 Lexus GX470. I love how easy it is to keep a silver car clean, but my wife really likes the SG. Any thoughts on how easy/difficult SG is to keep clean? It looks pretty dark in most of the pics. I had a black Volvo S70 at one point and hated the swirly circles in the paint. The car always looked dirty. Also, keep in mind that I have 2 kids under the age of 10 and basically cannot wash the car every day. It will likely get one bath a week or so through a car wash. Thoughts?

silver looks good but it's soooo friggin overdone
every damn car on the road is silver, once E90's start showing up on the streets you won't be able to find your car in the parking lot if it's silver |

What color did you get? Seems all the ED pics are of people getting SG. Still worry about dirt. Also, my car will sit in a reserved spot in a covered garage 90% of the time, so I will certainly be able to find it (unless someone steals it).

SG looks pretty dark in person also and will show some swirl marks, but not as much as black. It will show dirt a lot easier than silver obviously, but it will also be a bit more unique of a color than silver (which will be everywhere!). Personally I think SG will do well with 1 wash a week. Just make sure the car is always waxed and don't do any of the things while washing that cause swirl marks and you should do fine.

I chose Titanium Silver over Sparkling Graphite just for the fact that dark colours look dirty all the time unless they are just washed. I am so happy with my choice

I originally wanted to get the Sparkling Graphite, until I saw it in person.
There is a little purple in it that can't be captured by photographs easily. Not to my taste.

You may think that TiAg E90s are going to be common. But according to the colour poll, about 57 of those that voted are potentially going for Sparkling Graphite, in particular in the US.
I think there are going to be more SG E90s on the road than TiAg. if you hadn't already guessed form my sig, i went for TiAg. Black Saphire came a close second. SG didn't make my short list. |

While the poll on this message board may suggest that SG is most popular, I think the population of the board is not representative of the 3 series buying population as a whole.
It was also probably skewed by the fact that almost all of the photos of the car released by BMW were SG cars. Plus, they were professionally lit so as to mask how dark the color really is in person I think anyway. It is almost certain that there will be more TiAg E90's than any other color, given the popularity of silver on cars in general and on BMW's specifically. Of course this shouldn't be reason for you to not get it if its your favorite color.

I just picked up my 330i in SG a few days ago and I absolutely love the color - purplish tinge and all. The Ti Silver is also a very nice color but just about every other car on the street is silver. As for keeping the car clean, it doen't matter what color it is...I like to clean my car on a very regular basis.

I have also noticed the purplish hue in my SG 330i, but only in certain light. I think it adds a little bit of interest... The Ti silver just looks too pale to me, but it is very attractive. I think in most light the SG looks better, but the TI is a very good choice too. I had a hard time deciding but I went for SG.
I do think SG will be more common this time around, but there are many many pale silver cars out there from other makers. |

I realize there's an incredible number of silver vehicles on the street these days. I own one myself. I'm not too concerned about this, as I try to differentiate mine by keeping it spotless. I'm talking tires, wheels, windows, etc...The nice thing about the silver is, even when you have a few days of rain, it still looks good. If I get a new 330I, it's gonna be TiSilver. I'll take a couple of days off to Zaino it, and it's all good. People that say silver doesn't pop, haven't seen a properly detailed silver car before.

I'm in the same boat myself. I thought I would order the TiAg but my dealer just informed me that a SG just arrived (SP/PP/CP Step). I'm going to look at it on Thursday. It I order TiAg now I will most likely have to wait into Aug before I get the car. What should I do?

I have a SG e90
Did a Euro delivery and got back last week. In the sun with the car clean, SG is awesome but a little dust/dirt really diminshes its appearance.
I was travelling on the Autobahn and pulled off for gas. It was raining so the car was dirty. Up pulled a TiAg e90 in the same conditions and it looked great. Right then I experienced the first disappointment (about 5 sec) with my color decision. On the other hand, I live in AZ where there are 300+ days of sun so I think the car will be fine here. My next ED will probably see me in TiAg though. BTW, outside of the dealer, the only color I've seen on the road here in the US is SG so I wouldn't worry about another silver car. |

I have been struggling with the same question, as I think both colors can look great. I like the SG for the fact that it shows off some of the chrome highlights on the 330 (door sills, for instance) and the SP wheels look great in contrast.
I am selecting the Silver, however, since I live in the Seattle area and it does rain enough to make me need to factor the weather and how the car will look everyday. Plus the SUV I'm currently driving (soon to be relegated to weekend duty) is dark gray, and it definitely shows the dirt, even after just one drive in the rain. Either way I think you'll be pleased with your decision. |

I have a titan silver Z4 now that i will keep. I thought i was gonna get sparkling graphite before seeing it in person. In my opinion it looks MUCH better in all the bmw pics, than in person. Too purple for me.
I am planning on ordering an alpine white one now, even though i havent seen it in person. For two reasons, I have a silver z4 now and ever other bimmer in my area is silver. Although without a doubt of those ive seen in person (all but alpine white and electric red), Silver looks the best by far. Also i should add that like the Z4, the Titan silver with 18" wheels looks MUCH MUCH better than all others. And from reactions of others at dealers ive been to, everyone seems to agree. And by the way, why is titanium silver called TiAg? |
