Hey guys,
I decided to go ahead and get the 2021 M5C. Searched long and hard for the right car, and finally found what is an ideal one for my taste. It is Donnington grey with full Aragon Brown leather. Comp package, exec package, Driving Assistance Pro package, fancy sound system (BW), and red calipers. Searched all of the western US for this combo, and finally found one Impressions coming from different vehicles: 1. As compared to 2020 M340i (RWD) with Stage 2 tune. - Weight: M5C is significantly heavier and it feels it. However, the amazing thing is that it is very sharp in corners. It goes where you point it to and the steering is superb. As one may say - it carries its weight well, haha. In my opinion the chassis/body in the F90 and G20 are equally as rigid and resistant to flex (props to G20) - Power: to be honest, the power feels differnet in these two cars. M5C has brutal acceleration past 3000 rpm and it pulls like there is no tomorrow all the way to the top. Engine sounds good, and it is quite agile for being a 4.4l V8. However, that tuned B58 witha dash of ethanol was revving much quicker and was more "agile" if you will. It was "snappier" and more exciting in a "boyish" kind of way. Granted, my M340 was a RWD and I dynoed it at 365 hp to the wheels before the stage 2 tune. M5 just feels like a bigger car with a bigger engine that is slightly lazier on the get up and is a more refined machine. - Tech: I really loved the iDrive 7, voice recognition, and semi-autonomous driving and I used it a lot as I was commuting to work etc. It worked well in stop and go traffic (which is terrible in Southern California). I knew that I did not want to go back to previous generation tech and iDrive 7 is one of the best systems out there. - Luxury and comfort: Despite the fact that M5C is bigger, heavier, and has a more track-oriented performance in the Competition model, it actually feels more compliant on rough road and more comfortable than the M340i. I have a patch of rough road to work and the way it handles it is quite admirable. Needless the say the seats and the leather are just worlds above the ones that M340 had. BW sound system, in my humble opnion, is absolutely amazing! Didnt expect it to be this good, to be honest. 2. As compared to 2002 E46 M3 - fully rebuilt and with TMS CSL air box E46 M3 is a masterpiece. It feels like a toy. Literally. I dynoed 330 hp at the rear wheels with TMS CSL box and ethanol paired to a 6 MT on 355/365 Michelin Pilot SPort 4S tires. This car is just a pure visceral, imperfect, and rogue experince requiring all 4 limbs to operate it. I love this thing, even more than the M5C to be honest. But it is not a daily driver due to its imperfections and organic nature. S54 with the bolt ons and the CSL style intake is an absolute riot and you just cannot drive it like a normal human being. With all that GRAWWWWW induction noise it feel like you're doing 120 mph when you're in 3rd and going 80. In addition, after every rubber joint and bushing had been rebuilt to OEM, this car feels tight and nimble - probably better than when it rolled off the lot. All cars have some variant of orange-brown leather (Cinnamon/Cognac/Aragon) Now on to some pics Last edited by ryivnx; 01-11-2021 at 11:32 PM.. |

WHOA! That E46 is clean as a whistle! Great to hear your impressions on the M5C. I got to try one briefly before COVID and I couldn't get over how heavy and ponderous it felt compared to my E90 at the time. Really glad to hear it feels snappier after you adjust!
On steering feel, since you had an M340i you know it's not really there. Does the electric rack on the M5C have some? And unfair of course, but how does the feel compare to the E46 M3?
