Thanks for the update, going to purchase now. Will respond with updates on performance differences. Will run the OTS for a while and see how much it gives.

Flashed the 93 OTS tune today and did some dragy runs to compare to the stock tune, also had similar weather/temp/da/humidity. Impressed since she picked up 3mph in the 1/4 and knocked off .7 second off the 60-130 times. Really want to try the 30 Ethanol OTS stage 1 tune next, not sure how much of a different I'll see, I have E85 still left over from my RS3. Itching to remove the primary cat and go stage 2. Some numbers to compare between stock tune w/ 2 gallons of E85 vs BM3 OTS stage 1 93 file. Both days were same weather, 80 degrees/DA +1800 / Humidity = 80% 0-60 stock = 3.04 =/ BM3 OTS = 2.87 1/8 stock = 7.07@100.27 / BM3 = 6.88@103.08 1/4 stock = 10.98@126.62 / BM3 = 10.68@129.72 60-130 stock = 8.43 / BM3 = 7.87 0-130 stock = 11.65 / BM3 = 10.74 Will rerun with the E30 OTS stage 1 file. I had BM3 on my M2C and the stage 1 tune was a drastic upgrade over stock - especially because the M2C had a detuned M3/M4 S55 engine.
On the S63 platform, it appears to be only marginally better than a piggyback. The numbers above are very close to what someone ran with a Racechip. https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=424 If the 21 ECUs were unlocked, I'd probably go with BM3, but in the meantime I'll stick with Racechip until they figure something out for the newer DMEs. |

I'm impressed with the coolant temp and oil temp since it looks higher on the dash than it really is which is great to see. Seeing 203 oil temp after a full pull was impressive especially in the weather we are having right now. Coolant temps were 210. I'm not sure what the stock boost psi is but this stage 1 E30 we are seeing no higher than 22 psi. Max Wg duty was 65 ish. I have two logs linked from BM3 below. I understand the basics and assuming this is why I'm not getting high mph and better times since the boost is low. Mind you its retartedly hot out but did the first log just when it warmed up, other log is after 30 mins of driving. https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=611c...0b4344f3a83699 https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=611b...729b0a3854bade Last edited by brad65ford; 08-17-2021 at 04:07 PM.. |

Appreciate the response and totally agreeing with you. If you see the dragy posts from the OP and others they are -DA and 40/50 degrees. I'm like 85 degrees/90 % humidity and 1800 da lol. She'll be quicker in the fall/winter for sure.

you def will, and downpipes def give an edge if you go that route. I have Intake/JB4 only. I can run 6.7x - 6.8x in ambient to neg DA

Looks like the JB4 can make more boost than these OTS Bm3 files it seems. Sucks I have to wait for better weather, really don't want to do DP if I don't have to to run better times. Was thinking do to only primary's and keep the secondary just to run stage 2 file.

I'm looking for a tuner willing to tweak the OTS file for me to add in some more boost instead of going dp for now, hopefully that is promising. So feeling you on smell, been there done that no thank you. I do want to hear more of the turbo whistle as well too. Was even thinking of gutting the stock primary lol.

Certainly buying catless uppers and leaving stock secondaries is the cheapest way to improve flow. Stock secondaries flow a few percent more than stock primaries, but having only 1 instead of 2 helps.
I understand that quality high flow cats like 200 cell HJS can work with a stage 2 tune, but I am not sure about higher cell or lower quality cats or about just running stock primaries or stock secondaries. The less backpressure the better when pushing the limits. I have run catless on a number of cars and never complained about smell except when I did not have a catless tune. I don’t spend a lot of time idling in stopped traffic in stagnant air, however. That is the only condition under which I have noticed a smell. |

400 cell cats like AA uses won’t smell and will not give CEL. Same cell count as stock. Is there any testing to show gains over simply adding catless secondary pipes to stock 400 cell primary cats?

No, but am curious. Would probably need to extend the post cat 02 to after the secondaries. Have not read of anyone doing this. Most seem to just buy a tune to deal with the 02 and add performance and leave 2 cats whether stock or aftermarket to stop any smell.

Removed seats stage 1 93 file
Switched back to 93 ots stage 1 file and recently purchase a tcu tune (really like the tcu tune, seems to help remove some of the torque limiters. Today got board and removed the rear seats just for shits. They weight a lot, shit 0-60 launch but sure picked up some speed even in this humidity crapy weather (ignore slope, same road I always run here in fl and its flat as the sea 0 slope). Did a dragys run, one of them are not valid not sure why but figured I'd share.
Ordered some Titan 20's rims with ps4s's to help lower some more weight. These heavy boat anchors they call rims got to go. 0-60 stock = 3.04 / BM3 OTS = 2.87 / BM3 OTS/TCU rear seats out = 2.93 1/8 stock = 7.07@100.27 / BM3 = 6.88@103.08 / BM3 OTS/TCU rear seats out = 6.80@104.47 1/4 stock = 10.98@126.62 / BM3 = 10.68@129.72 / BM3 OTS/TCU rear seats out = 10.55@131.17 60-130 stock = 8.43 / BM3 = 7.87 / BM3 OTS/TCU rear seats out = 7.53 0-130 stock = 11.65 / BM3 = 10.74 / BM3 OTS/TCU rear seats out = 10.46 I guess I can't complain, looking back on the OP's stage 1 dragy with awesome weather for better run times (3220 da difference / 44 degrees colder), also looked like he was running lighter wheels, posted his time. Thanks, not sure if I'll hold out on mods till the weathers better. I have a feeling she might be able be in the 10.3's with light weight wheels, back seats removed, running 93 OTS BM3 tune, xHP tcu tune, 40-50 degree temps with low -200/+200 DA. Would like to see how far it could be pushed with stock hardware/no bolt on's etc... Assuming i'd need the E30-E40 tuning). Better weather can't get here soon enough

Yes I do believe the TCU tune helped a good bit, its said to remove torque limiters and I believe it. I do love 60-130 times for sure, heard shifting via manual is faster than leaving it in auto shifting. Only reason I'm focusing on 1/4 mile times is because auto shifting as well as reflecting on da/temp/humidity are fixed, easy to compared against. Still want to know what the best rpm to shift at in each gear etc...
