Gesture Control Sensor Covered

This is what I did to get rid of all the laser false alarms in my Escort radar detector.

Could have been a little better, but it was not easy working upside down...

Sweet! 😀
I wonder why I don't have any issues with my escort…

Mine is mounted to the windshield under the passenger sun visor. I tried just deactivating the gesture control function on iDrive, but the sensor is still active.

The gesture control sensor window in the headliner control module. Most radar detectors that have laser detection capability are triggered by the gesture control sensor which uses a laser to detect motion in front of the dashboard below. In order to eliminate the radar detector false alarms, you have to cover the sensor window.

I have a blend mount which place is it right under the rearview mirror. Works like a charm.

I had that problem with my Valentine V1 which was chatty anyway. Switched it out for a Radenso Pro M. No more problem.

I turned my Escort laser portion off which I don’t love, but with Waze always on it helps. May grab a Radenso.

Instead of covering up gesture sensor I was told you can turn it off within the idrive settings. Is this not the case?
