Need to get something to protect the engine cooler after I get my car back from the engine swap. I drive this car to job sites and can't risk puncturing the cooler if I decide to keep it or swap to the comp model.
iND any updates on your guard? Anyone else making them? |

Thought. If there is a way to recess the cooler a small amount into the engine bay to allow for any guard placed to also be flush with the bottom that would be ideal... depends on the tolerances. I'm sure there tight. Once your mechanic has the seized engine out for the swap maybe talk to the techs and take some measurements and see how much room is in there and maybe a custom fabrication shop can weld you something using the old cooler as a template.... you should have the time while you await the new engine. Then you can off-road with impunity |

Should it be more of a grid pattern? So the holes are not so big at the bottom of the triangles?

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1166887 I'll post a DIY up on this site when we have more information. Fall-line is building the hardware kits now to go with the cooler guards. They have 10x guards ready to send off for coating right now.

I can't believe that the cooler is out there, even after some failures in M3/4'.....you can get so many things hitting under body.....this is a shame that bmw could not figure out a better place or at least provide a guard.

Guard looks leaky... I'm thinking about buying it and "upgrade" using some fence mesh or something to protect against small shit. What do you think?
