I usually get off West St. at W. 12th to head up 8th into Chelsea / Flatiron. I know what you mean about the cobblestones.....

I was comparing an M5 base vs M5 comp pack. The M5 Comp has the sport exhaust, the M5 base does not come with it, hence the M5C is considered to sound better.

I am in New York City several times a week.

I do wish the CE could provide that 7 series magic carpet ride feeling in comfort mode but it's not as harsh as many say and personally I find it in some ways softer than my old F10 550. The F90 handles potholes and big bumps better but the 550 was better at hiding smaller road imperfections.

I do feel as though I can feel every small bump in the road even in comfort mode in my CE but it is not particularly jarring. In the balance, I enjoy both the styling and handling of the CE more than the base model so I'm OK with it.

Interesting, I had an F10 550i xd Msport and has it always in full sport mode. I still find the base M5 in comfort mode a little stiffer...

You are going to have a harsher ride in city driving.
I would get a non comp and spend the rest of the money on performance exhaust and some carbon.
People that call the M5 Comp harsh have not really spent any time in it, IMO. The ride is far from harsh and I found the handling far sharper than the base M5. Get what you want but the M5 C is not harsh. Go drive a ZL1 and talk to me about harsh...lol.

It's a little stiffer over small imperfections but there were times in my 550 were I literally thought potholes had broken my front axle. Some were so harsh they disabled the collision system. The M5C handles potholes much better.

And, as someone else said above, the handling is far, far sharper. I posted a video in a another thread where a reviewer jerks the wheel of the base model back and forth without changing lanes to show how loose the steering is. It is not possible to jerk the wheel like that in an M5C without pulling it off the road, so it is not a minimal difference in steering/handling feel.

Fegelein...we should meet up and compare notes.

LOL, Yes! I's more of a real rough / dense metropolis, that also experiences snow, pot holes, etc.
LA has most know, is a vast sprawling city, that is all fair weather.
