BMW needed to build a certain amount of those cars (I don't remember how many) to get the homologation of the E90 in WTCC because the race version of the E90 is based on the 320si (which has a better engine than the 320i).

They won't export them to the US since they are sure to sell enough of those cars in Europe. This car comes standard with the M-Sport package, special rims, etc.

Thanks all for the info on SI. Sound like they did the same with the E46 CLS where they need to sell a certain number of those cars. THe SI is a very nice 4 cyl bmw car with the nice package and cloth seat. I want to move to belgium...

You mean the E46 M3 CSL ?

Then No, it was just limited production, not made for any homologation

2500 had to be produced to homologate the 320Si.(FIA WTCC car)

OK nice car! I love the wheels. Why you have German plates on it instead of Belgian?

I love the >7000rpm engine, though I find the 173DIN Hp not that many imho..But still SHARP on it's nose(less understeer) because of the lighter 4 potter.
(The new Renault Clio 2.0 has 198DIN HP if I'm well informed, but I hate FWD )

Congrats/Gefeliciteerd

Robin hood: That engine has potential, as I mentioned its overengineered/understressed...I believe its prime candidate for some heavy tuning and/or forced induction...the block can take it.

You'r faster than I am. I edited some stuff. I think you're right BUT it's an atmosperic engine, no turbo, so to get more horses, you need to tune it the old way. Very expensive(not like chiptuning)

It is called 'glacier silver aluminium'. Only available on this model in the E90/E91 range.

It comes standard with the M package for the 1 series (E87).Take a look here.

M3 CSL never made here...but as a consolation, BMW NA offered the ZCP (Competition Pkg) on the e46 M3 with some of the goodies on the CSL
