Lol. i forgot the word inferior is a trigger word on bimmer forums
i kid i kid, but from a factual technical standpoint.. 10+ lbs less unsprung mass/weight from each wheel is definitely something.. + no corrosion, nor rust, nor brakedust not calling anyone inferior but i cant Not get carbon brakes if it's an option for any car in the future now that ive had them |

I agree, the Carbon Ceramic brakes are the way to go. Such great stopping power and the lack of brake dust and clean wheels.

Yes, your car sounds very good! In my critique, I did not want anyone to think the car sounds bad. It actually sounds very nice.

Oh, I wasn't insinuating that you were. I was merely posting actual vids of the LCI's exhaust in various conditions. To me, it sounds the same as my 2018 did.

Congrats OP - Excellent Build!
Hoping to get some advice from you guys please. I am from AUS and my local dealer has a brand new 2021 M5C LCI in floor stock in DG - Feb 21 Build with almost all the options I would choose and is offering a cracker deal to clear it. I test drove another car, pre and post run in service and found the sound to be good, especially in Sports+ with the loud pops and bangs. (I haven't heard the exhaust noise or driven the pre LCI M5C) - Considering this is a Feb 21 LCI build, will the sound be muted in comparison to pre LCI or a 22 build? - Ideally, I would want to build my own so I can get an 2022 model and Exterior and Interior Colour choices, but the sales rep is confident that I wont get B&W and potentially no Touch Screen and Wireless Charging options if I go down that path due to chip shortages and what not. Have you guys heard this as well? - I don't want to go too crazy on choosing special colours but ideally would choose Aventurine Red III. I have not seen DG in person / real life / outdoors / and in different lighting conditions. How is this colour? I am worried that this colour is a bit too metallic and classy. As an F82 driver, I would prefer something a little more sporty on this car. TIA. Last edited by TEGRITY; 12-07-2021 at 06:19 PM.. |

I notice you use Erik at Envious. I've been using him since 2010. Always top notch job.

* How long are you planning on keeping your car? If you're going to be keeping it for a while (5-10 years), I'd say that you should get the color that you want rather than settling for a color that's available (regardless of what kind of deal you're getting). * That said, Donington is a fantastic color, and I have yet to hear from anyone who regrets going this route. With the LCI M5s, I think lighter colors look great because of the contrast with the black trim in the front and back, and the carbon fiber roof. Aventurine red is a really nice color, though I wouldn't necessarily think of it as sportier than Donington. It does remind me of some classic M5 colors, like the E60 Indianapolis red, and and Porsche's arena red. In terms of upkeep, Donington is going to be a lower maintenance color. * There are mixed reviews on the importance of B&W sound. I have this option and think the lighted speakers look cool, but I'm not an audiophile and the standard system probably would have been fine for me. If you search on this forum, you'll find long threads debating the value of the B&W sound system. * I never use the wireless charging pad. It's not easy to position your phone in the proper position to get the charging to work, and if your phone is larger, it won't fit at all. I also it the charging to be quite slow, and my phone gets really hot. I wouldn't put much value in this option. * Touch screen: I can see not having this as being a bit more significant. I personally tend to use the iDrive controller, since I came from an E60 with no touch screen, but I do occasionally use the touch screen, and I can see it being a bit of pain not to have one. Good luck with your decision! |

The chip shortage is real, if you can get the 2021 LCi I would grab it. Regarding the color Donnington Gray, it is very sporty and beautiful at the same time. It looks amazing during the day when the light hits it and spectacular and night as a stealth warrior. You will not go wrong getting this car!

Thanks TAmes and Greer Much appreciated.
I enjoy long drives and music becomes an integral part of it so B&W is something that I value. Also considering that I have always found the HK system to be sub par. I have never used touch screen in my F82 with iDrive 6 but there is a lot more options in the M5 with iDrive 7 and realised touch screen is quite important. I went on an extended test drive in a demo car and fell in love with the seats and how the car doesn't show its size with spirited driving. The car has all the options except massage seats and CCB, which I wouldn't have chosen anyways. Have taken the plunge and delivery locked in for first week of 2022. Car is currently at the detailers for full PPF and Ceramic coating. |
