HELP with the Interior Trim!
hey all - the car is on order..my wife and I are arguing over the interior....she wanted TAN...however I have had TAN in my E34 and while it looks nice to start it looks dirty quickly...so she agreed to black leather...now I want to get the aluminum trim but she wants BurlWalnut....I cant get it outta my mind that its not going to look that good...I mean I saw a 5 series with that trim and it looked nice but the 5 is more of an more "mature" vehicle where as a the 3 is more sporty especially the 330 with SP...i've kinda promised her that eventually this will be hers but in the mean time it's "ours"....
whaddya think???? should I force the issue? how does BurlWalnut look with black?? Oh yeah the exterior is Sparkling Graphite.. thanks for your opinions... M.

poplar = light wood
burl walnut = dark wood Don't push the issue with you wife because it's not worth it. It's going to look great with the dark wood as it is very common. Personally, I like the lighter wood, Poplar, to give some contrast, but it's just a personal preference. Aluminum gets hot during the summer and dings easily, FWIW.

I really like black leather with aluminum trim. SG with that combination will give it a very sporty look. My second choice would be Burl Walnut with the black leather

I ordered black/poplar with my SG, imho poplar looks richer than the burr walnut (which is too cliched), its got a nice sparkle. I'd gone with the aluminum (the sporty choice) but its too fragile/clinical. Did you consider terra?
You can't win with your wife...trust me

I did
think about it BUT I've seen the pics and as others have mentioned on the board that the TERRA interior is real nice but it's mixed with black and grey so either it's black or grey not both...I've always had a problem with the headliners on bimmers...
How do you like the SG exterior? I've been reading its a bit hard to maintain? On the showroom floors they look great but then they have all the professional tools and cleaners... WOW there are alot of people from VA on the board...cant wait until a meet... M. PS I love my wife to bits BUT yeah resistance is futile with the wife...

i don't like any wood trim in the 3-series so i'd say aluminum with black leather(ette).

Well...imho there are really 2 signature colors for the e90...i.e. arctic and SG...they're both complex yet characterful colors. My original order was for an arctic (aimed for low-maintenance) but changed my mind and went with SG (it was argued as a darker shade of silver so resale and maintenance won't be as tough)...as SG is more sporty and dynamic and arctic, decidedly more mature?. Also considered Mystic and Monaco blue at one point.
Now it seems SG is quite hard to maintain (i.e. shows swirls easily) although it still hides the dirt The only problem I have (now) with my color choice is that its toooo common. For e.g. the e90posters who are on the same boat as I am and are participating on the thread all have SG cars on order

I also thought for sure that I was going to go for the Black/Alum combo - no questions.
However, after walking into the dealership, test driving and sitting in the different interiors, I much prefered the black/burl combo overall and either of the wood choices to the alum. This came as a total surprise as I generally do not like wood trim and much prefered the alum trim in the e46. The alum did look a bit better in the i-drive cars than the non-idrive. As a few others have mentioned, while sporty, the alum trim is very cold looking and just didn't work for me in the e90. Surprisingly my wife wanted the alum - go figure |

i'm one of the few that's not a fan of the aluminum trim on the e90. i think it's over kill and doesn't blend in well with the black interior. btw... my last car was tan. this is my first car with black interior. it gets dirty fairly quickly. just think, black clothes. every lil spec of dust/dirt shows up. i still pick black over tan though.

So what are you doing in the US? Not to bash the US but it's "differant" than Canada.. I think I will go back to TO but not at this moment, perhaps in 2-4 years..my aim was to take back quite a few greenbacks but the CDN dollar is pretty close to the US dollar now...that hasnt happened since the 70's... sorry to hijack this thread guys.. PS I miss Timmy's coffee! M.
