M5 CS Break In Period
Just picked up my M5 CS on Saturday. It's amazing! It is truly the ultimate driving machine. It's my first M car and I want to make sure I get the best performance and longevity out of it. The dealer didn't mention the break in period limits and (naturally having an M5 CS) I gave it WOT a few times and tried Sport + mode. Still under 100 miles on it. I later read the manual and noticed the break in limits and it says to not give it WOT during the first 1200 miles.
I called around to a few service centers and they said I'm probably fine and just to take it easy from now on. A couple service advisors also said that the car has a limiter on it that protects it too. Will doing the WOT or Sport + just a few times hurt the performance or longevity of the car? |

You've prematurely destroyed the engine by doing that.
I think you should sell it to me at a discount before carfax finds out

Let it warm up fully and cool down. Drive it with some full throttle blast, not necessarily to red line, then lots of engine braking. Seat the rings good. I wouldn’t baby it, but don’t beat on it.

As for the limiter mentioned by the service advisors, they are wrong.
