I have an Escort 360 Max and I'm using blend mount and mirror tap on my 21'. Between the radar detector and Waze it has saved me numerous times. The system isn't perfect (kind of bulky sitting under the rear view mirror and no laser jammer) but it's definitely better than having nothing at all.

Uniden R7 and Waze.....should be nearly bullet-proof with these two.

It would be cool to have laser jamming but almost all cops seem to have/use always on systems now anyway. I never see radar anymore.

Your best bet is to get a fully integrated built in and calibrated (aimed properly) radar detector and laser detector / jammer (if legal in your area).
The hope is you can detect radar bouncing off cars ahead of you or jam a laser gun before the code can be locked in. I am not an expert of if an officer can ticket you by visual estimation in my area but I bet the law is in their favor if they are certified in this field. All of the above helps, plus run Waze (and add your sightings to keep it up to date) a good brain with a healthy dose of common sense goes a long way. |

I run Uniden R3's in my cars and am waiting for Theia and don't think it's worth upgrading until that comes out. R3's are quiet if you know how to set them up correctly and there are plenty of instructions out there.
They have saved me many times. If you read vortex and other well known radar testing websites, the K40 uses the same radar receiver as a $100 whistler radar detector you can buy at walmart. K40 is a long way from a uniden R series or a new V1 gen 2. K40 is garbage and every review proves it. Save your money and get a good window mount Uniden or V1 and spring for ALP laser jamming if you want the absolute best all around detection/jamming. |

I have some experience with K40 and they false just as badly as a first gen V1, which i didn't mention. K40 is missing features that I would never give up the ability to lock out false alerts based on location, block certain radar spectrums that are susceptible to falses coming from blind spot monitoring on some vehicles, segmenting bands, running radar bands in narrow vs wide modes, decreasing the sensitivity of radar bands etc. The list of things you can't do with K40 that you can do with V1 or Uniden R series is too valuable to me to spend $2000 on a detector with worse range and no features other than being built in and a clean install. But to each his own. Made that mistake once and will never go back unless Radenso comes out with a unit that combines upcoming Theia features (which i realize is vaporware at this point) and anti laser. I'd love to go built in but i'm not prepared to sacrifice features that i don't consider unecessary.

Got this tank of a radar detector / dashcam a few weeks ago. Hope it works. First portable one in years, replacing old integrated units. In my experience radar detectors are worth it if they save you even once from the hassle of being pulled over for speeding.

I'm on the polar opposite end of this one
I've only ever had Valentine1 hardwired into my car almost immediately after signing. It has saved me many times. Works best on the highway- honestly the only place I pay attention to it. Now with my F90, I have the Valentine1 generation 2 model hardwired just above my forehead (gesture control trips the L band of too close to mirror as preferred) and I especially love the Bluetooth integration this time. Great offering in my experience considering the prices of other units

Get a good one with GPS (escort 360max, Uniden) + Anti laser priority (best laser jammer), and you'll be fine. Plus can transfer to your next vehicle.

That said, as stated above, lidar will beat any radar detector. The jammers definitely beat Lidar, but they need to be installed correctly and updated with a computer or wifi on a regular basis to counter the new Lidar guns. Also police will see if they are being jammed. In my state it's a $100 ticket, but it can be a criminal misdemeanor in many locations. |

it's often a crap shoot. A rookie cop with minimal experience usually doesn't hold water. An experienced cop that has been "less than truthful" with the Judge in the past trying to exaggerate and make his quota = a Defense win. However, a veteran officer with experience, truthful, honest and integrity with this court? Commonwealth win everytime. also factors like traffic and weather come into play. If the cop can say he was watching traffic on a 55 mph road for 4 hours with cars clocked at 60 mph; and then he sees you fly by at 100 mph - it's much easier for them to compare with same date, same time, traffic type "Visual estimate". but it's a judgment call for the tribunals. . |

with a maxium sentence of $2,500 fine, 6 months in Jail and 6 months loss of license. and 6 dmv points (12 pt = loss license for additional 1 year) Typically judges in our area will assign 1-2 days in jail per mile over 100. thus, a 120 mph speeding in a 60 zone will usually result in a $2500 fine, 6 month loss of license, 6 dmv points, AND 20-30 days active jail time and 5 months suspended jail pending 1 year good behavior. and since it's criminal, it can Never be expunged or removed from your records in our state. |

I just got a ticket this morning! I was going to get a haircut and just cruising along. He clocked me at 77 in a 55. He dropped it to 74 to avoid "super speeder" status. Thank God for that but I'm still bummed out about the whole thing. Now I really want a radar detector. Haven't had one in years. I had planned to start a new thread but conveniently this one was already up and running. I really want a v1g2 but they are currently backordered. I plan to get this model and mount in this best way possible so I would like some ideas. I'm sick of using stupid suction cups and having it stuck under my mirror so the cops can easily see the thing! I like your mounting option FSHNGRY. Would you mind posting some pics of your setup? I would really appreciate it and anyone else who has a stealthy mounted detector.
