**Armed Hijack of 2020 White M5 comp**
**Armed Hijack of 2020 White M5 comp** Vehicle was stolen by two armed suspects out of West Loop (Madison St and Western Ave) in Chicag. Last known location of GPS puts the car at 43rd and State. Vehicle was last spotted by police on 90/94 southbound around 63st St. on 11/16 and again on 11/19, but both pursuits was called off due to excessive speed. IL plates JCHAN8 with black wheels, carbon fiber roof, diffuser, and spoiler. If anyone spots this, call 911 to report its location to police.
6 days and not a single ping from BMW stolen vehicle assist. All communication to the vehicle went offline within 30 mins of the theft. Any other way to track this? |

Wow, sorry to hear. I'd wager the car is gone for good and headed overseas (Africa or Eastern Europe). Not sure there is anyway to trace once she goes "dark". Try BMWNA just in case.
This has happened a few times in NY/ NJ as well. I remember one forum member here had his car stolen while valeting, Customs later found it in a container headed to Angola. |

Man that's so sad. What a beautiful car and I haven't seen too many F90s in white. Things are only going to get worse before they get better. Get the hell out of major cities if at all possible! Of course, these days, it's even getting bad way out in the rural areas where I live. I had two vehicles in my driveway broken into about a month ago, and the perps were literally driving around the countryside diving into ditches and robbing peoples' cars! They hit several other houses that same night and it was multi county operation...

I would not want the car back after this tbh, pursuits and etc..
My fingers would be crossed that it will never be found. My only guess is that you are trying to find it, because you didn't have full insurance coverage? |

Wow bimmerbeast really has the worst inferiority complex on the whole board… slow clap for the clownish drunk… another one of the many posts I'm sure he'll wind up deleting when the bud light lime wears off.
Sorry to hear of the loss OP- I agree with others I'd rather never see that car again and just start fresh. |

Wow, sorry to hear about this. Sounds like you are uninjured. I supposed it could have gone worse. Don't expect the police to put any priority into finding your car, they are swamped with other bad behavior of yet other criminals.
Be safe. Mike

Pretty sure that turning off location services in iDrive does that. BMW may be able to see where the car is though. None the less, it sounds like this wasn't their first rodeo and they knew exactly what they were doing.

So if the owner of this car was leasing, what happens? His insurance pays off the car and he is free to lease again?

This is probably going to sound retarded, but I've been throwing airtags on everything that I moderately care about because I recently had my old 2002 Dodge dually stolen. There's no chance I'll ever replace that beast and I miss it.
Best of luck in figuring this out OP.

The good news is that the vehicle has been located on the South side of Chicago along with a fresh car wash. The bad news is that it was involved in a shootout with officers, but the criminals managed to escape before ditching the vehicle.
BMW stolen vehicle recovery is a real joke. According to BMW, the vehicle has a hidden gps and will continue to ping even without battery, yet the thieves managed to disable the system likely with regular tools entirely within 30 mins of the theft. Never thought there was a need for a secondary tracker or air tag. Had full confidence in their system prior to all this. This is a leased vehicle with 16 months left. CPD forensics processed the vehicle and insurance will assess the damage next week. At this point, I surely don't want the vehicle back. Not sure if I have a say whether or not the vehicle is totaled or not. It took four to the bumper, another on the hood, one to the heads up display area of the dashboard, and another to the head rest. If anyone is interested in a lease assumption at $1560/month once the car is fully restored, pm me. I also have an extra oem set of M5 black comp wheels with new Pirelli soto snow tires available for sale if totaled. TY all for your kind words! |

Damn that's a crazy outcome! I was thinking if the police had a chase with it a few days after it was initially stolen it doesn't sound like it was being chopped or shipped overseas. Looks like some decent shots on target too -- whoever was in the driver seat is lucky to not be in a morgue right now.. at least related to this shootout.
Look on the bright side -- you didn't put a CF front lip on the car! |

Is there a "good" area of Chicago? lol... I mean no offense to anyone who works there or calls Chicago home but from the outside it looks like a warzone, the mayor is a lunatic, and honestly you couldn't pay me to live there. My life is priceless...
