The brushed/flat color on the grill trim is a nice touch.

So the first edition is a 2018 base M5, which by all means, is a fantastic car (Car and driver got a base M5 to 60 in 2.8 sec). I’ve only driven the CS a couple times, as it’s been at the detailer. I’ll be picking it up today, so I’ll have a better sense of how it compares as I put some more miles on it. I haven’t really pushed the CS, but I can say that the drivetrain just seems smoother, more linear than the base M5. I haven’t ever driven a Comp to compare it to. The first edition came with the M Sports Exhaust, and mine got way louder over the years (and was not affected by the fuel ventilation recall software update). Right now, it blows the CS exhaust out of the water, as many users have commented, the CS exhaust is disappointingly muted. Will that change over time? We shall see.

I've noticed over the last 2 weeks that my M5CS exhaust has started to get a bit louder. I'm around 2,500 miles now, so I 'm really hoping it continues just a bit more for the next few thousand miles.

info request on your Launch Edition?

Hi and congratulations on your new CS. But, I have an info request for you on your other car. I purchased a 2108 Special Launch Edition 2 weeks ago. It must have been a lease return and is quite low kms. Have you ever tried to find the specific number of the 1/400 that yours is? And, do you know haw many were allocated to North America? Thanks in advance. Ian

Thanks.

Actually they all say 1/400 (meaning 1 of 400) They’re not individually numbered. Approximately 100 came to the US. Not sure about Canada. Congrats on getting a first edition.

In my excitement when putting up this post, I forgot to give a shoutout to the team from BMW of Ft. Lauderdale for making the CS happen!

Thank you Jerry Gruher, and Steve Ghoulami! And a special thanks to Steve Pelkey and Keith Cordeiro!!

OK, that’s good to know. With the break-in service well behind you now, have you tried really pushing the car? Launching it? How are you liking it? Hope everything worked out with the PPF installation in the end.

I've pushed it. It's loads of fun, but I miss the DCT over the slushbox. This is my first time with an AWD high performance vehicle so it's nice to not have wheel spin.

As for the PPF, I got a full refund from the shop and will be having a different place redo it at some point.
