M8GC?

Any M5 owners here thinking of moving to the M8 Gran Coupe? I have been wrestling with it a little. Love my M5 and its only a year and a half old but that M8 looks fantastic.

No. M8 is too small for me too. I have 2 small kids and bought the M5C to haul them around.

Anybody know the weight difference between the two? Had a 6 series Gran Coupe and it was a heavy sumbitch.

what they said. be aware of how much smaller it is on the inside. I went M5 to M6GC in the last generation and regretted it.

I am debating in between X6M and M8GC

X6M is better choice for me because of kids but, damn M8GC is gorgeous

Is it just me, or do cars look better with Euro plates on them versus US plates.

Looks like the gc weighs about 300lb more from what I can tell and about 5 inches longer. So it will eat tires even faster at the track!

So the M8 Grand coupe is heavier and longer? That means a big no for me.

4 with an emergency middle seat in the back that you would never intentionally subject someone you like to.

I wonder how it will ride compared with the M5? Given the “coupe” nomenclature, I would presume it to ride a bit firmer, no?

I went from 6GC to M5 comp...best decision by far...i will never go M8GC route again..sitting position to low, even harder suspension..loooong car,no where to find parking place...no,M5 forever...only i will pair with X5M comp when individual program be avaiable 8/2020...and i will go for Singapure grey X5M...

Button line :
M8 GC looks much better, big time head turner, but not necessarily is a better car, and 40 k more expensive
you can get a manual CPO m2 with that money and probably have more fun!

Surprised to see the M8GC with quicker acceleration numbers than the M5 despite greater weight.

Why surprised? It’s an 8 series and the M5 is a 5 series. Of course bmw will want the higher series to produce more power. It’s like comparing a Camaro to a corvette, the corvette is always going to be more powerful as it is the higher model.

Surprised because the cars have the same power and torque figures.

Two cars can have the same power figures and one is faster than the other. Different suspension, gearing, differentials, transmissions, weight distribution, etc. If you compare the F10 M5 and the F06 M6, two completely different cars with the same power figures.

Fair point, though many of these factors could favor the M5 too.

I'll be interested in some real world testing numbers, especially from Car and Driver.
