Anyone else have issue if they leave the engine running and walk away from the car the engine shuts off but the car stays on? Is that normal? Never had that on my last m car, x5m.

Yes it's normal and nobody really cares for it, lol...

Lock your doors and it'll shut everything off and I believe you can do it with the radio on / off button I think... Locking doors for sure...

Yes, the radio knob does shut down the iDrive system (after engine shutdown [Off State]), as I understand it,

But, when the engine is not running, the cooling fans blow like a hurricane for a few mins afterward; which kinda makes it seem like it’s still running.

The fact that the fans blow like a hurricane for a few minutes means the car is very hot - means it was driven hard - means you, good sir, are driving your vehicle appropriately!

I have left mine running with family in side and walked into gas station, etc, with the keys, and mine stays running. I think that feature comes with the sunroof.

Mike

JK about sunroof, but if you don't have one your car sucks.

I've had atleast 20 people come up to me and tell me that my car is still on outside. I assure them it's not, and they try and assure me that it is.

With the number of radiators on the car, and the heat it generates, it needs to cool off properly. Even when not driven hard, but driven for about 20-30 minutes, the fans will stay on for a while.

My fans only run (in the summer time) for around 30 seconds ... not minutes

You should get your car checked out. You definitely want the fan running for much longer than 30 seconds after engine shutdown in the summer. The hot-v design generates so much heat that the engine needs a lot of air to help exchange the heat after shutdown. You are likely cooking everything in your engine bay.
