I have an oil leak

Pulled the car out of the garage to wash it this morning and spotted some drops of oil on the ground. just hit 2000 miles. I am hoping it is not the oil cooler issue that others have had. This is my 4th M5 and I had a M6GC in the mix, so 3rd with the turbo V8. Had an E46 M3 before those. Never had an oil leak with any of those cars.

The dilemma is that I am out of town on Monday/Tuesday and then leav on Friday for 2 weeks.

Do I let it sit for nearly 3 weeks or take it to the dealer on Wednesday? I highly doubt they'd be able to get it back to me by Thursday evening so it would sit at the dealer for 2 weeks.

Thoughts?

Edit: Forgot to mention the car had been sitting for 5 days so I assume this is the amount that dripped in those 5 days.

It won’t get worse if you let it sit in the garage. I personally would rather have my car sitting in my garage, than the dealership’s parking lot.

I just got on the ground with a flashlight and see zero damage to the oil cooler.

cannot spot the leak area either.

It’s probably the oil filter o-ring. It can get pinched easily and create a slow leak. It happened to mine after the dealer serviced it.

Hey, more photos of that garage!!! floor looks great!

I pranked a guy who souped up his Launch Edition Subaru STI by pouring drops of oil under his car in the parking garage. It was very funny.

But this time it was not me.

It could be just as easy as lazy tech that didn't clean up after doing the service.

I have seen a customer that have wet underpanel and oil filter housing after he picked it up from service.

Finally was able to get the car in today. the culprit? defective oil filler cap.

a sigh of relief that it's not something more serious. I discovered the oil after a weekend trip with some spirited driving so it kinda makes sense.
