BMW Sales Increase 7.5% in June, Close 1H 2019 Up 2.0% YOY.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – July 2, 2019…
Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 7.5 percent in June 2019 for a total of 31,627 over the 29,407 vehicles sold in June 2018.

Sales of the Spartanburg, SC-built BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle topped 7,000 (7,052) units in June, nearing record levels, and driving BMW brand sales to their fifth consecutive month of growth. Other notable performers in June included the X5 Sports Activity Vehicle (4,473), X7 Sports Activity Vehicle (2,214), 3 Series Sedan (4,927) and 5 Series Sedan (6,259).

“June sales in total were near record levels as our customers remain enthusiastic about our Sports Activity Vehicles, as well as our sedans – notably the 3 and 5 Series,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, president and CEO, BMW of North America. “We’re very pleased with our first half results and, despite the increasingly competitive marketplace, look toward the second half of the year with optimism.”

BMW Group Electrified Vehicle Sales

BMW Group sales of electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles decreased 22.6 percent in June 2019 vs. June 2018. Model changeover has limited the current BMW Group electrified lineup to five models including the BMW i3, BMW i8 and i8 Roadster, BMW 530e, and MINI Countryman plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Plug-in hybrid variants of the BMW X5, the all-new BMW 3 Series and updated BMW 7 Series recently debuted at the Geneva International Motor Show. These models and a plug-in-hybrid variant of the BMW X3 will begin sales in the U.S. at a future date.

MINI Brand Sales

For June, MINI USA reported 3,235 vehicles sold, a decrease of 22 percent from the 4,146 in the same month a year ago.

BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles

BMW Certified Pre-Owned sold 9,783 vehicles, a decrease of 15.7 percent from June 2018.
Total BMW Pre-Owned sold 20,629 vehicles, a decrease of 8.9 percent from June 2018.

MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles

MINI Certified Pre-Owned sold 1,199 vehicles, a decrease of 22.8 percent from June 2018.
Total MINI Pre-Owned sold 2,690 vehicles, a decrease of 21.7 percent from June 2018.

That's extremely high volume for the 5 Series. I wonder if that's a record monthly total for the US.

I haven't been paying attention to the X1/X2 recall situation, so those numbers caught me by surprise.

Not too shabby. I guess this year BMW will break the record.

Wow way more sales on the X4 compared to last year. I wonder if they are heavily discounted right now

Customers are not stupid.
I mean seriously, it looks bad on picture and looks WORSE in real world. Aside from performance and quality aspect, Mini is 90% character/image.
And who would buy that ugly piece of shit... it's circular but not circular, it's rectangular but not rectangular. It's not small but not big.
I can make a mini using Lego and it would look better than that crap

As a Mini fan, I'm just missing the original or R50/56 era

Well yeah, who wouldn't miss the R50/R56 era. F56 is a terrible car at a laughable price. Mazda 3 power and weight for Golf R money.

But BMW sales were great, if the X1 was just available for the month they'd have been up double digits.

The X1 caught me off guard as well - I was going to comment '3?!' How does that even happen

Its nice to see some of the new Sedan's moving up, even YTD, the 5 series had some nice gains and the 7 did as well even though its a few years old.

Interesting to see how well the G20 starts moving the YTD 3's numbers, you can already see the impact in June.

I know everyone wants SUV/SAVs but I still like sedans.

wasn't aware of the recall for the X1/X2. For MINI, I honnestly think they need an old fashion power boost. The pricing is just nuts for the power these cars make. The new 301 Hp JCWs will be nice but the "S" models need to make more power as well.

Interesting how X1 and X2 are lumped in with passenger cars. Aren’t these Light Trucks?

If they were tallied under Light Trucks, there’s no 45% increase in YTD Sales, its a negative %.

Besides X1/X2 recall, the 2 series was on product hold most of the month for an airbag problem.

Not negative. Still a 1.2% increase with two models on sales holds for the above listed reasons. And of course the car side would show an increase.

They're running a pretty heavy incentives for the 5 series in tristate area, that may have helped the numbers a bit. If im not mistaken it was $4500 cash incentive towards the lease. 3 series also but the incentives are lower

Was the recall for the engine being installed 90 degrees off and wrong wheel drive?

I'll show myself out.

My wife LOVES her 2018 Clubman. It stickered for $41K, and I can assure you she would not be driving it had we not found a BMW exec car spec’d out the way she wanted it (with a real color and stick) for $10K off.

The fact is, these things are like Porsche when it comes to options. You are charged for everything, and it adds up FAST (at $41K her car STILL doesn't have a garage door opener?). One other fun fact: if you LOOK at her car the wrong way, it will ding. The metal is so damn thin.

So I do think that Mini is in trouble. It’s not that they make a bad car, but the price is simply out of control for what you get. It doesn't help that fun colors like Laser Blue are gone (at least from the Clubman), and finding a stick shift one is like spotting a snow leopard.

Wow, $41K for a Clubman?! No wonder they can't sell any cars. You can get a nicely equipped 330i sport for 5-7 grand more.
