So that picture of the i8 they teased might still amount to something?

I understand the idea behind this concept..showcase possible technology for future cars (which im grateful i wont be alive to see 100 years from now), but why make it so ugly? Can you explain that habib?

I dont mind self driving cars, as long as they're not mandatory..but i have a feeling soon or later they'll be. Imagine that..you'll need to go to a track, or live in a small town to drive your car. If you think humans depend on technology now, imagine 100 years forward..we wont even drive anymore..maybe we will even became useless. Machines will do pretty much everything better than we do.

In case we've forgotten how far automobiles have come in 100 years, here's a car that is just under 100 years old:

You going to Laguna Seca for the Monterey Motorsports Reunion this year?
It'll be all about the BMW 100th Anniversary celebration.
BMW is this year's featured marque.

Blame Audi for inspiring the age of oversized grilles a few years ago. The end of delicate and thoughtful design language...

Also, I am really surprised they got rid of the quad lamps. Ferrari did away with the rear ones and have since reintroduced into every new facelift or all new model.

Anyway; instead of staying true to the brand legacy, they got into the crap looking i-BMW range, plug in-hybrids are almost nowhere, coupes are 4 door limos,....
Good that the SUVs sell well, or the company would be in 2 feet deep mud.
Look, putting aside the core brand ethos and all that, I have no problem with BMW making the move to diversify its product in substance and range provided they continue to give us gems like the M2 and i8.

In the end the market, ecological and political shifts will make extinct those who do not follow this path and I for one don't want to see BMW fade away like Kodak.

I thought BMW was interested in design. You wouldn't know that by this waste-of-space exercise.
If they sort out the grilles it would be nice. They point is not design; it is conceptual direction. They want to showcase the tech and driving experience to come.

I think you just made a "trump" out of yourself with your comment. Perhaps next you will sugest a wall and I should pay for it aswell??
Perhaps you should seek professional help to sort out your BMW complexes mate.

does not make everything bad. You just see nothing but bad and can't see anything positive. I am lucky enough to drive some of the best cars in the world and I always find myself thinking what a pleasure it is to still have the choice to buy a BMW.

If you think the brand is not for you then find another and blow sunshine on its fan forum.

And step number 1 is to hide those ultra-skinny ultra-aerodynamic tires.
Hence the flexible wheel pants/fenders.

I really like the overall profile and "presence." But I doubt cars will look like that in 2116.
It's like a carriage-maker in 1916 imagining what a 2016 horse-drawn carriage might look like.

Look mate we are here to discuss the good AND the bad. You can always choose not read my posts you know? But you cant deny bmw has been loosing its plot for awhile now. From the death of NA engines to fwd and more and more dull cars its not exactly at its best you would agree no? Look at porsche. Just introduced the 911r manual rwd NA engine and looking to introduce that philosophy into the rest of the lineup. So it is possible to do it. Bmw just chooses not to. The goal now is profit above all. The ultimate money machine. And if you bothered to read some of my other posts you would find I am the owner of 4 bmw's (5 until I traded my daily driver x3 for a Macan) and a huge fan of the i3 and future owner of it aswell (just waiting for the new extended range batteries).

Is this not the eDrive model they are testing against the Plug-in Hybrid XC90?
