It really has nothing to do with posing. I highly doubt anyone who does the retro fit is going to go around lying about the MY. We just like the look. Some people like splitters and different spoilers. Not much different except it is OEM.

Hello all I'm new to the forum but have followed this thread a lot before I picked my 18 M5 up. I have been on the fence about this upgrade because I can't find anyone who will give me the code instead of coding it for me. Seems a bit cheeky you ask me (no I'm not British but seemed like the right word to use). But after all the reading I have decided to forgo this mod and save it for another day as I wanted the US LCI lights but with no issues it seems like the EU lights are the way to go.

I'm with you. I love the dark LCI lights but with the issue with the US lights I just can't do it. I want my car to stay as stock as possible if that makes sense. In other words I want my welcome lights to function as if the LCI lights belong on it. I ended up buying a flat bottom steering wheel after market but I'll lose my steering wheel sensor for Lane Keep assist so that's staying in the box until I find a workaround.

Same here. The US lights with no welcome lights was not an option for me. The Euro lights were very tempting but at the end of the day the install was not straight forward enough and it got costly. 4 wires, 5 wires, need to run wires, might not need to run wires, coding or plug and play? Just all gave me agita.

BUT, the LCI haunt me every day when I see just about any 2021 BMW. I still want them. Wish it was las easy as when I swapped my 1998 E38 tails for 2001 LCI's.

Can anyone who has done the Euro tails weigh in on whether getting a state inspection sticker with Amber blinkers was an issue?

Why? you don't see the welcome lights anyway? Or do you unlock your car before you get to it? I would imagine 99% of us with comfort access just walk up to the door and open it.

I want my welcome lights to work. I've gotten used to them and I want the car to light walk up to it and/or I touch the handle. No brainer for me

1) Euro lights and everything works as designed with an amber blinker

2) US lights with no welcome lights or errors if left on.

I'll take #2 and the amber blinker for $1,100 Alex.

I would take the Euro lights as well but, I just don't feel like putting them in. I might have to find someone to do it...

I was just going to say this. I don't miss the welcome lights at all. I use comfort access ALL THE TIME, but to each his own 🤷🏾*♂️

Totally get that. But That didn't answer the question. Do you use your key fob to unlock your car every time you walk up to it? Or do you just grab the handle.

That should be the only question that should matters to which one you want.

Oh I'm not doing the work! Those days are over. I'm paying my shop and of course Vic to code. Shop is $300 to $500 depending on whether I need to run the 5th wires. I could handle everything but coding, but I'd rather drop off and pickup done.

I walk up, but I don't think that is the only question that needs to be addressed on deciding which to buy. The Euro lights are fully functional, no? The US lights are not at the moment. I get that the Euro lights working 100% is newer information that was not available to others, but now that we know, as someone who put my order in yesterday, what's the reasoning for going for the US lights over the Euro? The Amber blinkers?

What does the coding usually cost to have done? This is a great mod that I'm seriously considering to do. I had a loaner '21 recently and it had the LCI and I loved it!
