Competition now a model line not just a package that is.
And I don't think anyone of the base F90 buyer should be mad because all should have known the competition model will arrive and its better than the base model.
BMW don't offer you the best M car they can make nowadays, they intended NOT to do things right the first time and offer something call competition model later.
Mercedes AMG started this by launching both E63 and E63 S at the same time though.

Not quite at the same level tough.
M2 comp pack price is slightly up to the current model but you get get a lot more goodies for the extra $
New engine, strong perf, new aprons, F8X seats, F8X mirrors, nice alloys and more...
Had the same upgrades be performed with the F90, I would have cancelled my order... glad it's not the case

Now let's wait in 2/3 years when the F90 gets the facelift with upgraded engine (M8)

2. Torque appears to be the same figure (consistent with other recent comp packs), but with a "wider torque band"

3. Wheels aren't a slam dunk, but are an improvement. I can see them MAYBE looking great with a drop. But as pictured, I'm a little underwhelmed.

4. The obligatory black bits are here.

5. I think i prefer the base M5 rear apron compared to the wider comp pack apron that spans the entire back.

6. .1 seconds faster to 60 is impressive, but something tells me it will be more than .1 when they do real world instrumented tests.

7. BMW's roll out of this competition package is uniquely disappointing. Rather than wait til mid life cycle (like it has done in previous gens), or roll it out simultaneously with the release of the base M car - BMW released the Comp package just months after orders for the Base M opened, to the detriment of early adopters. They were neither given the option of buying comp package, or having the comfort of knowing their cars wouldn't be immediately become outdated. A very poorly thought out roll out. Or worse yet maybe not even "thought out" but the result of BMW's failure to meet internal deadlines.
No thanks needed.

It was 625hp on the bmw Germany website
It is 625 PS vs 600 PS for the standard car . I believe 625 PS is right at 617 BHP .

Cancel your order.

What's the problem?

Don't know the policy in Canada (seems like thats where you are at), but yeah cancel or change it if you can, since you are still waiting might as well wait a little longer.

In Taiwan you can't cancel any order as BMW Taiwan distributor takes 1/3 of MSRP as non-refundable downpayment on any ordered car.

Hope it's not the same in Canada.

Interesting... now I have a dilemma, go through with my first edition allocation, or switch it out for the competition model. I am buying rather than leasing... I just wonder which one would depreciate less (please no flaming about me purchasing).

The first edition is more "limited" The comp package seems like it will be only slightly faster and more aggressive in handling... but otherwise not much else difference since they have the same sports exhaust, black bits, etc.

Purely from depreciation $ perspective, first edition I would think would be more valuable. However, the comp package one may be more desired and might have more buyers in future.

Wow, I was actually considering an M5 at release. Never again, I'm done with being an early BMW adopter. BMW's comp pack/LCI crap is getting old... I still can't believe my 2015 M4 has incandescent tail lights, what a joke.

Get the CP, personally I doubt the first edition will become a valuable car especially if it's your DD.

Dig the wheels. Sorry, but the Competition exhaust sound on any of these cars is still a big letdown. I don't know why they refuse to go big here.

(I know, I know, they want you to plunk down $ for the MP Exhaust, fair enough, but still )

+1

CP or bust here, especially for a DD.

Thanks. I almost wonder if the comp package will be too harsh for a daily driver? That is one of the reasons I bought the 570GT over the 570S.

Do we know if the comp edition only comes in one color scheme?

I've had two comp pack cars and both daily drivers. Not harsh in comfort setting. And all colors available.

CP you can chose other color, it's not a special one off models like the 30 Jahre or F90 first edition. As for too harsh, it's still a sedan at the end of the day, I don't think it will be too bad.

+1 I upgraded to a CP package on the F10 from a base model and the handling felt more precise with very little impact to the ride especially in comfort mode. Not a huge difference.
