335is versus F32
Ok, I know this thread is cropping up everywhere, but I wanted to throw out the question to a more narrowly-tailored group: 335is owners. However, all enthusiasts are invited to chime in!
My E93 (Le Mans Blue, Oyster/Black leather) 335is just came off the production line and is waiting to be shipped! I'm incredibly fired up for this Sexy Beast. I must admit that I had some nagging anxiety that I pulled the trigger too soon rather than waiting for the arrival of the F32 and its soon-to-follow cabriolet offspring. Now I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it would be easy to attack my bias since I've already committed to an E93, but damn, I just do NOT like the front fascia of the F32! It is the Anthony Davis of sports cars! The unibrow thing just doesn't work for me. It evokes the same consternation I had when the beautiful 1997-2001(?) 5-series was replaced with the Bangle Butt 5. It never worked! Throw in the Bimmerang thing (WTF?!) and I am breathing a big sigh of relief that I went with the last of the E93 Mohicans!!! BTW, the Boomerang/Bimmerang thing. Nicely done by whomever first coined that word. Well done! Of course I expect most other 335is owners to agree with my sentiments, but dissenters will not be stoned as heretics! Share your thoughts! Frankly, other than the untouchable M, I think the 335is is the high water mark in BMW design and execution and I'm glad I got a piece of the action! I really liked the 4 series concept, but the official photos posted today are just so-so. I am disappointed that the 4 series does not evoke a mini 6 series like the concept. It looks like a decent evolution of BMW design.
The thing I dislike most about the new 4 series is how the bulging hood, which was noticeable on the F30, is further accentuated because the headlights and grille are further thinned out. It almost makes the 4 series hood have a beluga whale look similar to a Lexus IS-F bulging hood. That bimmerang thing is also very prominent in a very unpleasing way. Other than that, I think the 4 series looks pretty good. I like the front fascia itself including the squared off corona rings... just not in combination with the bulging hood. I like how the rear window stretches further towards the edge of the trunk and I also like the wider overall stance. Still, the E92, especially in Msport or "is" trim, is a more cohesive and elegant design. Throw in the N54 motor that has 700+ hp mod potential, hydraulic steering, and presumably much cheaper pricing and I think you made the absolute right choice with your E93 335is. |

I am not very impressed with the new 4 series. It is not like the concept that they showed and on revolutionary scale barely moves the needle. It seems like they took 3 series and just barely did few modifications to it and gave us 4 series. It is not like 6 series vs 5 series. Just blah and boring. No great leap in engine upgrade like we had when moving from E46 330i to E92 335i.
I guess all you get is those huge gaps in front bumper filled in to brim with cheap plasticky stuff and stupid electric steering wheel that sucks in F30 sedan. In other word you did not miss out on any thing great. I myself am now that much more certain about the new Corvette. As it was 4 series vs Corvette for me. I hope in few years BMW redeems itself with a proper M4.

You are not legally obligated to accept the E93 you ordered. Just cancel the order.
Now, if you don't like the look so the F32, I don't know why you have a problem. You are getting the car you like and it's no lesser a car. A nice new car is a nice new car. What else is there to it? The warranty is the same. The motor is the same. The newer one may get better fuel economy, but then we are taking about a 335is. How important can fuel economy really be? Lastly, will there even be a 335is in the F32 family? I don't know.

Performance-wise the 335is is the better car, still.
The new F32 is basically on par performance wise with the LCI e92 335i. Although, arguably, the e92 is still better handling because of the steering. 335is has more hp, more torque, overboost, DCT, etc etc The 335is is more car than the F32 435i.

335is has the N54
Yes indeed, the 2013 retains the N54 engine with all its mod possibilities.:-)

4 series won't have an is model at least until LCI. IMO, the MSport should have been priced at a premium and have the specs of the is, and maybe it would warrant all of those M badges

I got a brand new 335is convertible exactly one month ago. Black on Black fully loaded and it is the most amazing car! I love it so much. When the roof is down and you can hear the exhaust.... words cannot explain how amazing it sounds. before I bought the car I test drove the 2013 335i sedan (which the 435i has the same engine) and there is absolutely no comparison to the 335is.
I think i may be too in love with my car.... oh well |

I'm right there with you. I pick up my E92 335is next week and I am very excited!
I do like the new F32 design, though I liked the concept better and will be looking forward to what may come in the form of motor tweaks and any M versions, whether M4 or M435. However, for me right now, getting the last of the 335is' is the right thing -a super cheap lease payment, an amazing and rewarding car to drive and with the N54! Going with the 335is also gives me time to see what evolves with the 2 series and any M variants of those cars as well. Good luck and enjoy your E93 335is!

Not impressed with the new 3 series at all, except that the car sits lower and wider from the factory, however, nothing your couldn't tailor on a 335is
Performance vs performance the 335is all hands down ........... |
