I had the same experience. Had lots of AMG experience at AMG Driving Academy, but brand loyalty to BMW for the past 12 years. Test drove M5C at M town event last year and was disappointed. The car almost felt "too good." Too quiet and smooth at speed, vs E63S felt more visceral with brutal exhaust. I ultimately picked up a 2019 E63S. Now reading the comments on this thread, I suspect that I might have had a different impression with different settings. But both are great cars!

With my butt dyno my M5 always felt slower than my neighbors older gen E63 even though my 1/4 times were much faster! No clue why... maybe the neighbor’s grass is always greener? 😅
