I just talked to my sales guy, who checked with service and he said that there is a software update coming out next week.

I just got the same message from my dealer saying that my delivery is delayed on my 2021 M5. My car arrived at the US port on 11/10. My dealer is saying that he’ll have an updated timeline by next Friday. This sucks.

I don’t understand how we are just hearing about this. I’ve had my car in order since August (Individual Color). It seems like there should have been more expectation setting, like “we have an outstanding recall issue that is currently in the process of being resolved which may delay delivery.” To hear about it as I’m trying to schedule transportation from the dealer to my home is unacceptable. I don’t fault my dealer, more so BMW, for dropping this massive heater on the dealers out of no where.

If I hear any news about my timeline, I’ll share with the group. Look forward to updates from others in the same situation as well. Damn it, I was really pumped to do some driving over thanksgiving weekend.

I feel the same way brother. Over two months waiting and they tell me about this the same day i was supposed to take delivery. And the sad part is BMW would not even give me a loaner.

Based on the effective curation date being the day of the initial notice, I think BMW literally was learning about this in real time.

They still could be communicating better rightnow though.

Funny my new (3 weeks old) M5 LCI, had an update only last week! in my garage, not sure just what that was, no recall on the car at all.
No shown faults either.
EDIT JUST had the call.
Not sure yet for what.

Was set to pick up an M5C last Friday afternoon, got a call that there is a stop sale, didn't understand why and haven't heard anything since. This thread makes a lot of sense. No end in sight, at this point.

Not a track day. Seems like if I really get on the gas under certain circumstances, like under a 1/4 tank of gas, it'll throw the cel. Then it stays on for like a week or more.

The dealer did most of my track inspections, didn't even bat an eyelash. If they ever tried to deny warranty claims for track use, they would regret it.

I was at the dealer today for a different reason and inquired about the recall. They had NO info to share at all regarding the recall or potential fix. They indicated that they will call me when they have any updates...

Everyone let's give BMW a little more patience. I know they could be communicating better right now. I think all of this will be figured out in the next few days.

These guys build beautiful machines that we enjoy. They shouldn't be making errors like this but the world isn't perfect. No one is. My M8GC is still sitting in the dealer garage lot waiting to be fixed of this issue too. Hopefully the fix comes soon so we can all pick up our beautiful rides! Stay excited!!! I know I still am!

Yea my CA didn't even know about the issue until I reached out to him. Then he had to reach out to BMWNA to find out the fix was coming next week. That's the benefit of this forum, we get quick raw information here sometimes even before most dealers do

Did they say that they have a fix and how long before you pick it back up? Or are they just going to keep the car waiting to hear from BMWNA? What additional info did you get cos we are all either uninformed or under-informed on here.

My car arrived at Baltimore late Tuesday night. Should be on its way to the dealership this weekend just to sit there until the fix is released.
Got to be a software issue and not part related.
Just hoping is coming soon.... !!

From my dealership: Just got off phone with BMW engineer. The software begins validation on the 16th and will be available on the 23rd. Car should be deliverable by the 24th.

Holy jebus. That's a surprisingly long validation period.

Been told by BMW UK, the cars are Safe to drive not a Safety concern, and we will be notified as and when to be called in.

So why are you not getting your cars delivered?????

I think it’s a regulation concern. BMW knowingly sending out cars with a potential emissions violation could lead to enforcement actions and fines. It’s a post-Diesel Gate response.
