Tire noise during tight maneuvering?

New owner of a '21 M5 here. Love this thing! But was wondering if you also experience tire "scrubbing/popping" at very low speeds when turning sharply (like maneuvering in/out of a tight parking spot). I don't know how to describe it precisely with words, but the tires "pop" and seem to "skip" when turning very sharply at low parking speeds. I assume this is normal and just due to the long wheelbase and steering geometry?

Thanks
FS

I think I'm experiencing what your describing. If not the same just let me know. I noticed it when car is cold and on initial move or turn from a stop. Almost like a slip/ slight grind sensation. I thought it was differential. I am thinking after break in and fluid change it should go away.

Congrats on your M5! Are you running summer tires? If yes then it's most probably the rubber getting harder below 35-40 degrees and does that!

This is exactly what I was thinking as I am on the Pilot 4 sports (I think). Just wanted to make sure!

Congratulations on your new car, great choice!

It depends on your rim and tire setup.
I have the same on my Porsche (summer setup only).
This is normal.

However, I never experienced it on the M5 Competition (2019).
Standard 20" BMW rim and tire setup (winter M5 rims; summer M5 Comp. rims).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Mike

I had that same issue on my 911 4S but never opted for winter tires on them as it was the third car. I have the same issue now on my M5 Comp, didn't change to winter setup this year as I'm moving south in few weeks and I hardly take out the M5 these days.

I have that issue. New M5. But I've only noticed it happening when it's been cold in the morning (under 50 degrees).

Like others said, it's normal especially in cold weather. I get this every time I leave the garage on my OEM summer tires cause my driveway is sloped so one of the tires lose contact at times and scrubs the pavement. I don't get this at all on my 19 inch snow tires.

Have not had this on my 2019, but my z06 does it with sharp turning angles because the front tires get scraped at severe turn angles.
