I read somewhere here the black wheels (706M) aren't forged. Had i known that i would have gone with the other ones. That said, I'm just turning these black ones into winter wheels.

Had they offered forged options in black, I'd have chosen them. |

Go with the bi-color 789M wheels. If you decide after a while you don't like them, you can have them powder coated black.

I had no idea they weren’t forged, thanks for letting me know. What are the benefits of forged? I assume they are lighter and stronger. I know someone on here has powder coated the stock comp wheels. Is there any downside with powder coating versus the factory process? Is one more durable?

Btw there are non OEM forged options that you can get in your custom color. (Eg R101 LW from HRE) |

Hilarious. Some of you will make someone a great wife some day. Forged vs cast??? On a 2 ton car, I can assure you that the few pounds of weight saved on forged will not matter. They are basically the same rims only one is all black, one has some silver. Get the ones that look best to you. I like the all black myself. Goes best with my Nardo beast, IMO. I don't mind the cast version one bit...lol. BTW, BMW has a rim coverage policy available that replaces any rim if you curb it. Get it.

I agree with Dr. Need's post ^^^ Go with looks.I was thrilled to see 706M Black wheel option for the Comp as I wasn't a fan of the Comp Bi color especially on Blue. Black wheel Matches well with the all Black trim and Dark tints. I do like the Bi color 789M on Donnington however.

Have had the black wheels for over a year and have no issues with wear and tear.
My only complaint is that the gloss black gets dirty extremely quickly. The brake dust on the standard brakes leave the wheels brown pretty quickly. I would have preferred a satin finish like MB or Porsche offers. Those seem to hide the brake dust a little better. |

Does anybody know the difference of weight of forged vs cast per front and back wheel? Although I'm sure the difference isn't huge, it is unsprung weight which will have more impact (roughly 2 pounds per every one pound of sprung weight reduction) compared to weight savings elsewhere on car.

I also love my black stock wheels. The comp wheels seem to look very skinny and takes the beast look away. Even if I powder coated the comp wheels, it will still look like a pu$$y. JMHO

I plan on getting my summer wheels ceramic coated when I get them. I was going to get my bodywork ceramic coated, but I'm going to get the whole car XPEL'ed instead.

At first I didn't like the black wheels that came on my car, but now I can't imagine it without! Love me some black wheels!
