that happens to me at school with my truck thats why i park really far away from other cars now(almost isolated and at the edge of the parking lot). and when i park, i try to park beside vehicles that i think are insured.

and dont give up yet. you can be vigilant and try to see if vehicles that are frequent in the area have scratches that has the same height as the ones in your car. im sure that your paint chips are still in that vehicle's surface. probably would still be visible based on the marks made on your car.

Try to figure out what color car hit you. They should have left some of their paint on your car and even other pieces from their car (sorta like DNA). That way you can at least narrow it down a little. Chances are it's someone that lives on your street or drives by there every day. That happened to my brother's car twice right in front of the house, once in broad daylight but nobody saw anything. The first time, as we were picking up the pieces that were scattered all over the street, we came across a piece of chrome that was from the other car. I took a walk up the street the next day and found the car that it belonged to 3 houses away. We then paid him a visit and after he saw the impending beat down that he was about to receive, he confessed.

There is no way that I would want to personally offend you, and I'm sorry that circumstances made you feel that way. My statement was frustrated empathy for the OP, and was made in the abstract. If I had said I wish they would be caught and sent to jail, someone with a brother in prison might be offended.... you just can't win. My intent wasn't to make light of cancer, nor to offend anyone who has had it touch their lives - as have I.
