Motortrend: 2017 Cadillac CTS-V vs 2018 Mercedes E63 AMG - Head 2 Head Ep. 97
I predict the F90 M5 will edge out the CTS-V in a similar comparison because it's lighter than the AMG, but I still maintain that ///M Division should have stuck to a traditional RWD setup and developed a superior lightweight and balanced chassis with a more advanced traction management system for the RWD on the F90 M5.
People don't realize that the F90 M5 is actually more unbalanced than the F10 M5 too. With the F90 having a 55/45 distribution while the F10 has a 52/48 weight balance. This comparison in this new Motor Trend video goes to show how much weight really matters but also how much an AWD system matters.

the ctsv is slower from a roll than the f10 and is pre much the same 1/4mile time wise. wtf are they doing with all the extra power and torque lol. classic piece of crap gm product. altho overall nice and can set nice lap times would never buy it over germans.

I have friends who are CTS-V owners that came to me years after the E60 M5 came out to brag that their car (the 2009 CTS-V) is faster than mine (was).
Aside from it taking GM years to temporarily surpass the M5 in 0 - 60 time only, I feel the CTS-V is a sham. GM is making one motor and just shoving it in every chassis they can. That is backyard garage, Fast and Furious tuner mentality. And, it's still a GM product.... flimsy plastic interiors disguised with steakhouse "leather". How can a Cadillac in it's entirety be compared to a German luxury brand? It's not even close - Germany wins every time.

///M cars in my opinion should be exempt from all of these cookie-cutter designs though. The S63 engine was absolutely designed from the N63 in order to cut costs in engine development. ///M could have designed a V12 for the F10 M5, but it probably would've been expensive. What really kills me are the same design cues carrying over from one ///M generation to the next, such as how the F90 M5 gets the same side view mirror design from the F80 M3. That to me is just pure-laziness in design and I believe that ///M should have been better than that, but then Mercedes AMG does the same exact stuff. We can't win.

1.1s and 8 mph slower than the F90 in the quarter. The new M5 is bonkers fast.
